Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cross “DJ Stavros” Rivera . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cross “DJ Stavros”, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
A Christian Juggalo, isn’t that a contradiction? For Dj Stavros it’s a success story. Founded by Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, Dj Stavros found love and comradery in the Juggalo community. But in 2017 when the Juggalos marched on the capital to protest and win the “juggalo” name taken of the FBI gang list, things changed for Dj Stavros. In support of the movement Stavros made an EP called “Sidekicks & Supervillains”, singing such songs as, “Even If You Wanna Bang”, “Ask Me to Stop” and “Like My Strangers Do”. This was the most meaningful project I’ve worked on. This particular EP really was set to be the opening comeout album for Dj Stavros. It was the album that changed Stavros to the man he is today.
So now with larger mainstream collaborations, Dj Stavros has taken his lyrics to another level. From fast songs like “Dead Presidents” featuring Yoshghost and Stevie Stone. To living out your vision in songs such as “Trouble Maker” featuring the horrorcore gorefather, Scum and legendary Krizz Kaliko of Earhouse, previously with Strange Music. To have collaborations with Young Buck, Rittz, Swifty McVay, Rick Ross (coming up) and many more was a dream. These collabs were perfect for the new album, “Sidekicks & Supervillains: The New Chapter”. An album full of the hardest hitting emcees from across the U.S. Showcasing all 80 Generations artists.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Stavros has always been into music and in the industry. From age 8 when he was doing kid plays and wedding djing, Stavros has always had a hand in theater and music for years. His growth really came into the forefront in 2005 when 80 Generations was formed. He led the old team of dancers, rappers, an R&B singer and a rock-a-billy band. After firing the ungrateful artists and rebranding the company, Stavros took up the lead artist role, picked up the mic and decided to lead by example. Dj Stavros hosts parties, weddings and your occasional hip hop show. Along with that though we also offer a graphic design service, dance choreography, merchandise distribution, music distribution and book/magazine publishing. We also do logo and website design for clients looking to get that set up. What really set him apart from other CEO’s, designers or artists, is that he does everything himself. No designing team, no helpers, no sponsors……all comes from one man’s mind……Dj Stavros.
After years of building and branding Stavros is extremely proud of the team we have and the music we have released. Building repour and collaborating with mainstream artist such as Krizz Kaliko, Rick Ross, Swifty McVay of D12, Young Buck, Stevie Stone and so many more, it has made these next few albums and EP’s the most incredible releases yet.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My drive, my goal, my mission is to be the greatest. To lead my team to success and notoriety recongnition throughout the world.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I can not credit my success to myself or simply state that this was al done with no inspiration, cause that would be a lie. In the early stages of 80 Generations start we had a lot to learn. It has been because of people like Tech N9ne, Scum, Big Ace, Ski Loco, Big Scoob, Michael Jackson, Prince, Dr. Dre and Eminem that I have grown and learned the blueprint of the music industry.
