We recently connected with Bryce Givens and have shared our conversation below.
Bryce, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Talk to us about building your team? What was it like? What were some of the key challenges and what was your process like?
Recruiting the first team member for Elevate Recovery Homes was a unique experience. Robby Mitchell and I first met while serving time in prison for drug-related charges. It was during this time that I realized we had a shared interest in wanting to create a community for individuals in recovery.
Robby is now our Director of Operations. We had a shared vision for the organization and I knew that he would be an invaluable asset to the team. Robby’s lived experience and skills have been instrumental in helping Elevate to build a strong and effective program for our members.
As a small organization, we have chosen to hire from within whenever possible. We have a team of three employees, and have also contracted peer coaches and licensed counselors to assist with our peer support services. This has allowed us to build a close-knit, dedicated team that is truly committed to helping our members succeed.
We believe that hiring individuals with lived experience in recovery, and who have a passion for helping others, is key to the success of our program. Our team members are not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also empathetic and understanding of the unique challenges our members face. We are committed to creating a positive, supportive environment for both our members and our team.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Absolutely, my name is Bryce Givens, and I am the founder and Executive Director of Elevate Recovery Homes and True North Recovery Services. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate the journey of recovery. I’ve struggled with chronic relapses and have experienced the pain and suffering that comes with substance abuse and unhealthy behaviors. I also know that recovery is possible because I’ve experienced it myself.
I am most proud of the positive impact that we have had on the lives of the men we serve. We have been able to create a culture and supportive environment that has helped many of our members achieve lasting sobriety and regain control of their lives.
We want men coming into our program to know that we are dedicated to helping them succeed and that we are committed to providing the best possible services and support. We are passionate about our mission and believe that our program can make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.
We understand that the journey toward a healthier lifestyle can be challenging, which is why we are here to provide assistance every step of the way. Our focus is on helping our guys develop the independent living skills they need to successfully transition into a more fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle. We know that everyone’s journey is different, which is why we offer a range of services and resources to help each individual reach their goals.
Whether someone is looking to improve thier physical health, build stronger relationships, or simply find a sense of purpose and belonging, we are here to help. We believe that with the right guidance, anyone can achieve the healthy and fulfilling lifestyle they deserve.
Our Philosophy:
At Elevate, we are dedicated to helping individuals achieve long-term recovery and live fulfilling lives. To accomplish this, we have developed a philosophy centered on four essential principles: structure, accountability, support, and action.
Structure is crucial for success in recovery. We provide a structured environment that allows individuals to focus on their goals and create a daily routine that supports their recovery journey.
Accountability is an important part of the recovery process. At Elevate, we hold our members accountable for their actions and encourage them to take responsibility for their own recovery.
Support is vital for anyone in recovery. That’s why we offer a supportive community of like-minded individuals who are all working towards similar goals.
Taking massive action is necessary for lasting change. We encourage our members to take action toward their recovery, whether it be through therapy, support groups, or other resources.
These four principles form the foundation of our philosophy at Elevate. We believe that through these principles we can empower individuals to achieve long-term recovery and live the lives they desire

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
I met my business partner, Robby Mitchell, in the most unlikely of places – Arrowhead Correctional Facility in the Department of Corrections. We were both serving sentences for drug-related charges, and we quickly bonded over our shared desire to make something of ourselves once we were released.
We spent our time in a shared prison cell talking and planning what a shared vision would look like once we got out. We both had a passion for helping men in recovery and wanted to create something that would help them create lives of intention and self-actualization.
I was fortunate enough to be released from prison two years before Robby. I used that time to start the business and purchase the first Elevate Recovery Homes location. I worked hard to develop the foundation of the business, and by the time Robby was released and able to come onboard, we were ready to take our vision to the next level.
Together, we have built Elevate Recovery Homes into a successful and thriving business that is helping our members to make the transition back into society and live lives of purpose and fulfillment.
Robby and I are proud of what we’ve accomplished. We imagined that our time spent in a shared prison cell would lead to something meaningful and impactful, and through our hard work and dedication to a purpose driven life, we have been able to make this dream a reality. We’re grateful for the opportunity and will continue to work hard to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
One of our core values is to provide “Unreasonable Hospitality” to our members, which means going above and beyond to create a personalized and welcoming environment that, we have found, significantly increases the likelihood of success in their recovery journey. We are dedicated to providing value-based, community-driven services. We use systematic and common sense techniques, and we are constantly evaluating and refining our program to ensure that we are providing the best possible service.
Our commitment to providing individualized care for each person has also been a significant factor in building our reputation. We also have a dedicated and compassionate staff that helps us create a positive reputation. Our team is made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about helping others. We try and create a culture of ‘Raving Fans’ and we are proud to have helped many individuals achieve lasting recovery, and we are happy to see our members succeed.
