We were lucky to catch up with James Culp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi James, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry?
Cooperate America has gone so far off the rails in the music and entertainment industry. It’s no longer about the art. Art is supposed to make you think different and feel something. Everything made these days has an expiration date. We are looking to take it back to innovation in both art and product. There has never been a product like ours that feels like it’s been here forever but completely new and I Novato be in the music industry.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It’s hard to answer when I got into the Hip Hop industry. I made my first mixtape at 15 and weaved in and out of musical and entertainment situations ever since .
The newest situation we’ve created I’ve been in about a year . That would be the making Characters and Cartoons out of regional artists . I really feel like we’ve created our own lane here .
We made a trading card series by artists for artists. With word of mouth and our Pale Garbage Rappers Etsy page our product is booming in ways we never thought we’d see !!!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I always had a good reputation in the local club and underground scene . I was the one person that artists from all walks of life knew they could come to without judgement . That made it easier to put this series together with people that main stream society might see as opposing teams. Around here though we’re just all P.G.R
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My whole life is a story that illustrates my resilience . The most recent would have to be January of 2022. I caught covid and was bed ridden for 3 weeks while my fiancé was in the hospital with covid and complications from pneumonia. This was the same week we launched the label from our brains into the world . After a few months of repositioning we went on to drop Lord Dynastys -Demon Mode and the rest is history . So in the purest terms resiliency is the only reason we are speaking today !
