We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Andrea Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
What I think it takes to be a successful Realtor for me. Professional, patients, honestly and understanding are key. Always go into any relationship with a new client or when building a new business relationship, being yourself. Be open to learning and taking constructive criticism. Treat your clients as equals, no matter if you’re working with 5 or 10 clients at once. Make them all feel like a priority, no matter the budget. Goal setting, building great business relationships, and good marketing are also both important for being successful in this industry.
Andrea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been a licensed Realtor servicing all of Maryland for 5 years and I absolutely love what I do. I specialize in residential sales, purchases, investment properties, and wholesale properties. What made me want to get into the industry was the Realtor I used when I purchased my home. I didn’t have much. In fact, I was living paycheck to paycheck. I wasn’t very knowledgeable about homeownership, but I knew my partner and I wanted better for our family. The level of care, compassion, and encouragement I received was incredible. I wanted to be that person for someone else. I never thought it would be possible with so many obstacles in my way but, it happened. It warms my heart to know I’ve been that person for someone else. My realtor played a big part in why I didn’t walk away. I always said that if I was to become a Realtor, I would be that person for my clients. I definitely kept my word. Many of my clients come to me very discouraged and not certain they would make it through the process. I’m very passionate about what I do and helping others achieve the goal of homeownership. What sets me apart from others is that no matter what challenges my clients face, I’m right by their side. I’m great at problem solving and I will always fight for my client.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been word of mouth. More than half of my new clients have been referrals from my past clients. I’ve always been told by my past clients how impressed they were with their experience working with me. I’m very thankful and appreciative to everyone has ever sent anyone my way. I am a firm believer in treating my clients the way I want to be treated. I can say that I’m doing something right there is never a time where I haven’t been busy.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What I think has helped me build my reputation within my market has to be the way I carry myself. Professionalism, honesty, patience, understanding, problem-solving, and teamwork work. Are all very important attributes to have in the Real Estate Industry. Not all deals or situations are the same. Some are a lot more difficult than others. But, if you work together, it can be done. No matter what, I will always carry myself in a professional manner and do everything within my power to make working with me a pleasant experience. Also, this has helped me build many great business relationships along the way.
