We recently connected with Will Saitam and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Will, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I want to inspire people by my work. I’m ok with my legacy being a quiet one, I don’t want the fame of celebrity. I want those who see my work to see the time and attention to detail I’ve put in my photographs or illustrations. I’d hope to touch and click on the imagination of some and the inspiration of others. I’d like someone to stumble upon my work in the future and show their friends and be like oh wow that’s awesome I wanna do something like that!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a photographer, illustrator and graphic designer from Orlando FL. I’ve been into the arts since I could remember drawing and reading comics. When I got a little older I got really into anime and manga as well as Japanese pop culture. I got into photography in high school taking photos of friends and since then I’ve been doing photoshoots, drawing and creating graphics. I have a bachelors in graphic design and creating images in photoshop is one of my favorite things to do in the world. Nothing more fun to me than getting together with a friend and snapping some photos and then bringing them to life in photoshop afterwords changing the background and adding all sorts of graphics. When I’m not doing photoshoots, im drawing on my iPad and creating stickers and other little cute items to sell on Etsy. Drawing was my first hobby and passion and it comes and goes out of style in my life but I picked it back up during the pandemic when we were all stuck at home and I was able to make some good money on the side doing commissions on insta during 2020. I love combining my drawing and photos together sometimes in a collage kind of way. If you wanna see my photos or illustrations on insta my handle is @ Saitamology and if you want to check out my Etsy shop it’s SaitamologyOfficial:)
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I wouldn’t say there’s a particular mission driving my creative journey, I’d say my creativity is completely selfish. I draw or photograph what I wand or like whenever it happens, sometimes I don’t do a photoshoot all month, and sometimes I have three or four scheduled back to back. Same goes for my illustrations, I draw what inspires me or what I see that I like that I would like to emulate or pay homage to. Sometimes I just want to draw hair and the rest of the image comes from that desire.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, creating pieces that I love is the most rewarding aspect of being creative. I like to joke that I’m my biggest fan, sometimes when I finish an image and if it comes out pretty cool I keep starring at it like wow, I did that! Omg look at those details, look at the color, composition etc. I show my boyfriend or friends like look! Do you see what I see? lol finishing a piece is so rewarding, having a little collection of drawings and photographs that I’ve done throughout the year feels soo rewarding. It feels really nice to see your thoughts and ideas completed in paper or digital art form.
