We were lucky to catch up with Deajonae McCord recently and have shared our conversation below.
Deajonae, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Hey, my name is Deajonae & I’m a 22 year old mom of 3. I remember sitting in my living room at 4am after just finding out I was pregnant with my 3rd child at 21, thinking how will I make great money for my kids and I. I prayed to god and told him to send me a sign & he did just that. I opened the app tiktok and the first thing I seen was a girl selling purses. I slowly started drawing out different logos & purse designs trying to see which design would be best. After a few designs I found the one I like and immediately got on my phone to find a production team. Within 15 minutes I found 3 different production companies but only 1 actually caught my attention. Without me having to ask they put my logo on different types of leather & from then it led us to getting the sample bag started. I received the sample bag and I absolutely loved it even with the few minor mistakes that were made , they made my design come to life. I ended up asking the production team to change the color of my logo and the metal pieces on my purse & they did just that. I went ahead and bought my first bulk order of 100 purses. After 7 full months of blood, sweat & tears our production is completely finished and I couldn’t be any more excited with what the future holds for my brand.

My name is Deajonae McCord I’m a 22 year old mommy of 3. I’m from Chicago Illinois and I love entrepreneurship. Before DAM I did own another business making custom photo blankets, durags , bonnets & etc. Since a little girl I’ve always told my family I wanted to be a fashion designer , I wanted to design clothes. Starting DAM brings out a different creativity out of me. It’s makes me joyful thinking of all the styles I have stored in my brain for future drops.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I make sure to make my business it’s own social media accounts. I post/ promote everyday . It may seem like no growth at first but once you stay consistent in promoting yourself the customers & sales will come
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy has been social media! I normally will go live on my business tiktok and start promoting my purse until I have a certain number of viewers in my live. It brings great traffic to my website
