We recently connected with Ciara Alford and have shared our conversation below.

Ciara , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Have you ever had an amazing boss, mentor or leader leading you? Can you us a story or anecdote that helps illustrate why this person was such a great leader and the impact they had on you or their team?

Dr. MeMe Brown has literally been A Perfect role model for me she has taught me everything I know. I was personally really broken upon meeting her she took her time with me got to the bottom of my issues and worked up from the root until she was comfortable releasing me to become a mentor and starting my own mentoring business Daughters of Imani which I’ve been doing for 7 years now.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I am Ciara Leshea the mentoring Photographer that does massages I just gave you all 3 of my businesses in 1 breath that was pretty dope I’ve been doing mentoring for 7 years God literally gave the the Vision in a dream and I went for it. I was absolutely scared for my life because I would have to be responsible in taking part in a critical time in development in their lives in 2021 I started doing massages and found a passion in doing that 2022 I started basic family photography taking pictures at birthday party’s receptions and eventually family reunions in things of that nature. I take pride in having patience and being fearless like everything I set my mind to before I start it’s already accomplished. I am Bold and I love the fact that No isn’t a word that I’ll except I keep moving FOWARD until I see what Ive seen in my mind.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to get off my time and be on one accord with God I would always wanted things to be done super quick so I could go to the next thing I’m a bit ADHD so my hands had to steady move or I would start to get aggravated at nothing but the time cause it was moving slow to me once I let God have control I literally could breathe things just felt light Life got easy and my anxiety went all the way down to the point where I could truly focus and be successful .

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I definitely wish I would’ve more connected and active in the community but 1 on 1 is more of my style because I get to bond and build life long relationships with my babies I start to mentor them 8th grade summer up until graduation of their senior year every one of my mentees have went on to college after high school to receive some type of higher education.
