We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lori Rayne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lori below.
Alright, Lori thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
It took quite a while, compared to many other musicians, for me to realize I wanted to pursue a career in music. I’d gone the traditional route in life by going through college, earning a degree, the works. It wasn’t until after college that I realized I wanted to pursue music. In my genre of music, and honestly a lot of other genres, you don’t really hear many voices like mine. As a country musician, or just a musician in general, I tell a story in a way that fits me. That means singing songs in ways many people don’t. It’s something very unique to me, and that’s honestly what took me so long to even play with the idea of being a musician. It wasn’t until I ripped the bandage off, and went for it,that I realized I could make a profession in what I do. I went out on a limb and made myself vulnerable by letting others hear my voice. From that moment on, I realized I could do this!

Lori , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Lori Rayne, and I’m a local country artist from Birmingham, AL, currently residing in Nashville, TN. Growing up in Birmingham, there was a lot of history to experience; this was also proven true with the music Birmingham offered. I listened to many different genres in my earlier years such as: 90’s hip hop, blues, gospel, and country, to name a few. Though back then, I didn’t really think of genres as “genres”, but just good music being good music. Because of some of these influences, it allowed me to present a sound that was uniquely mine. Although I’ve always loved music, it wasn’t until 2017 that I took to the internet to display my talents. About a year later, I released my very first single entitled “Radiostation(The Beach Song)”, which showed not only my place as a country singer, but also told of the musical influences that got me there. Soon after, I released my second single “Beaches in California” which landed me on my very first Spotify playlist. Most recently, I’ve released my debut EP entitled “1926”, which can be found on multiple streaming platforms, along with many of my other original songs.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best thing society can do to support artists and creatives is “support artists and creatives”. Often times, a creative doesn’t get recognized until well after they’ve gotten attention of someone “big”. By supporting creatives and artists during their journey of trying to “make it”, it helps them “make it”. During the days prior to the internet, word of mouth was king. It still is, but now many more people can hear your words. So share your favorite local artist, let your friends hear something new. You could very well be that person to kick start a creative’s journey toward success without even knowing it.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Ultimately my goal in this journey is to continue to have fun. Yes, a job can be fun, but my ultimate goal is to remember why I started this in the first place, which is express myself and have fun doing it.
