Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to 9ytTrain. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
9ytTrain, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time I knew, I wanted to purse music. Um I would say 2020 to be honest. I always wanted to get involved with music but to take it seriously and professionally it was 2020 during the pandemic. Back in 2018 a friend of mine (M3LO Fully Loaded) started his career and really pushed it and perfect his craft. He’s mainly the reason why i started. He inspired me to actually get out there. His style of music is unmatched. I could always sing a little bit, rap too. One day I just started looking up beats and started writing. I knew a few people who knows engineers at a studio so I decided to take what I had and get in the booth. I had few friends with me who were biased to get their honest opinions. They said I had something but just need to find my own sound because I was taking a lot of influence from Fetty Wap.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is 9ytTrain (NightTrain), from Washington DC NorthEast. I got into the Music Industry with Fully Loaded. I started to make music in 2020, and I was coming a bit different. In the DMV DC specifically you don’t really hear R&B where I’m from. So I hit up my man’s M3LO Fully Loaded and wanted a Feature, so we made a collab. After that we locked in, I always was inspired by him and what he was doing so I asked him and his manager if I could be apart of the team and they accepted me and started putting me on moves and performances and introduced me to different people putting me in place to succeed.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
It would probably be knowing more Dj’s and Promoters. They’re definitely needed because that’s another way of getting promotion for your old or your latest tracks. I just got connected with DJ Ginger Briks. A DMV Coalition DJ who actually believe in people and their craft. Recently she invited me out to a private DJ/promoter meeting to have artist that they feel have potential but not enough exposure. So I feel like with DJ’s and promoters they play a huge factor if your in the Music Industry.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
You can’t help everyone, I’m a nice Genuine person, but you got to know you can’t save everyone. Everyone goal is different, all you need is a small team who is on the same mission. Just trying to Help everyone and get everyone involved causes friction and slows the process.
