We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sam Carrell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sam, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful, it takes hard work and that means 24 / 7. It takes dedication, desire and commitment. You stay focused and keep going.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I adopted my first pup ever and walked her around NYC for socialization. An animal talent agent stopped me and said she wanted to work with Tinkerbelle. I was hesitant but then said ok, let’s give it a try. Tinkerbelle booked her first job for Ralph Lauren. We were on set a full day and she did great! The campaign launched and Tinkerbelle was selected to be the face of the entire campaign. She was featured on full pages of all the top fashion magazines, billboards, posters and more! Tinkerbelle booked a few more jobs and while on set the stylist asked what her social was as she wanted to follow her. I did not have social media for her as this whole world was new and I didn’t think a dog would have her own social media accounts. An IG account – Tinkerbelle The Dog – was set up while Tinkerbelle was shooting on set and I just kept up with it, as instructed. Tinkerbelle’s social media accounts began to grow and brands/products started reaching out for campaigns, appearances, and even travel! I never knew this was a world! So i was open and said yes to as many opportunities that came our way. Tinkerbelle continued to work as a professional actor / model and as a celebrity pup! The addition of Belle happened also by chance when a follower of Tinkerbelle’s in Oklahoma reached out to me. Of course I said no at first, but after a few months of daily photos and videos, Belle was on the next flight from Oklahoma to NYC! She arrived and I right away took photos of her announcing Tinkerbelle’s new baby sister, posting them on Galentines day. The response was huge! Everyone was so happy. Tinkerbelle’s talent agents also fell in love with Belle and within 3 weeks of her arrival, she was on set shooting a national eyewear commercial. Totally amazing. But, this dream story also comes with a lot of work and dedication. I am literally working 24 / 7 and…. I would not change a thing!
Have you ever had to pivot?
I also have a dance school for children. As Tinkerbelle’s career took off, I had to take off from the school. Finding people to cover for me, open up each day, etc… Then Belle came along and life got double as busy! I still have the dance school BUT miss alot of days. Sometimes I do say no to work for the pups but, the pups right now are my priority. I am very organized and dedicated to everything I do which is how I can make this crazy puzzle all fit together.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is for Tinkerbelle The Dog & Belle to continue to work professionally and eventually have their own long running television series. Hard work will make these dreams happen.
