We were lucky to catch up with Dajeyah B recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dajeyah, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe to be successful, you have to understand your purpose in life and what it means to you. Although, we may not see results overnight, remaining consistent along the way will soon reveal growth within your business and get you on that ladder of success. A clear mind and happy heart always wins, not being discouraged or giving up is what makes everything worth it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Dajeyah B, I am the owner and visionary behind Lingrèt Jewels, which is a jewelry and accessories brand that specializes in custom, costume and statement jewelry. I always been into fashion since I was a kid, having my own distinctive style and having my family members watch me dress up and cat-walk through the house at 7/8 years old. I always knew I would be into fashion, style and accessories. Once I graduated high school, I felt like I needed to create a brand that was meaningful and that would allow me to express my personality, but also something I could profit from. I decided that I wanted to sale jewelry and accessories that we’re unique, affordable and stylish. I traveled to many different places and communicated with a lot of different vendors while curating Lingrèt Jewels, which wasn’t an easy process but it helped me build structure within my brand along the way. I pride myself on being very hands-on with my brand, having amazing quality items, as well as insuring that my customers have the best online shopping experience. I want potential clients, followers and fans to know that my brand is unique, it speaks volumes about who I am as the woman behind it, it is still growing as I speak this, and I am so ready to offer much more.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would say my most effective strategy is in person marketing, rather I am in the grocery store, the hair salon, or simply taking a walk. I always carry my business cards and give them out to potential customers letting them know who I am, what my brand represents and offering them a discount on their very first purchase with me. I do that to get friendly and familiar with my customers in person, being as though I run my business online. I also feel like my outgoing personality or catch phrase gives them a face with a brand so they feel more confident doing business with me. I am still working on social media marketing though which I feel running ads or sales can attract more clientele, that is just something I am not as advanced with just yet.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
During the time I started Lingrèt Jewels, I was a college student at Temple University and I also worked a part time job. I would save money initially because I knew I wanted to start a business soon, however being in college and having to constantly pay for miscellaneous things, tuition etc it wasn’t easy. My boyfriend at the time just so happened to be in the entrepreneurial field and was one of my biggest supporters when it came to helping me fund Lingrèt Jewels. We both matched a reasonable amount of money that played a big part in me ordering my first bulk of inventory, he had someone design my logo and I took it from there with designing my website myself via Shopify, buying an LLC for the business, coming up with the product names, opening up a business banking account, profit margins etc.
