Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cameron Garnigan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cameron, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
During my journey, and even now, my mom gave me space. You never really realize how space plus a solid foundation can really make you excel. She always gave me my own say and independence to make my own decisions. She never pushed me down a path that she thought I should be on, but one that I wanted for myself. I know it scared her that I didn’t choose the college route but I felt it was important to take advantage of my youth and take risks. She never faulted me for that or held it over my head and I really appreciate that.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Cam, also know as Sauceboycam. I am a musician, designer, and videographer. I was about 16 when I started everything and I just started because I didn’t want to waste my youth. I wanted to do something meaningful and what could set me up for a future that I wanted.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I utilized social media more. I feel like each platform from Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok (even though it wasn’t around when I started) all have unique niches. I just wish I was more consistent in the beginning and used them all how they were intended.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That you can’t help everyone. Some people just hold you back or only want the gains without dealing with the pain. Also, people never learn appreciation if things are just given to them even if you are a giving person. As cliche as it sounds it really is lonely at the top.
