We were lucky to catch up with Kaylin Rios recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaylin , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents did a lot of great things for me. One of the most important things that I now am very thankful for is teaching me financial education at a very young age. I remember being very young and my parents used to give me an allowance every Sunday. They would always approach to me and showed me how to make $10 into $50. And how to invest my money wisely, how to budget and how to duplicate my money. They taught me how to hustle. quite literally. I would make brownies and jellos and sell them to teachers or students at school. There was one time when I actually negotiated a deal with the lady from the cafeteria at school, I brought her candies from United States (I lived in Mexico), negotiated a good price and she bought them from me, she priced it a little more expensive than my price and the earnings were hers. I was still making money to go back, buy more candies and keep some for me. I opened up my savings account at a very young age.
My dad would always buy me financial and motivational books such as Robert Kiyosakis “Rich Dad Poor Dad” Robert Greene “The 48 laws of power” Richard Carlson “Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s all small stuff”. Alot of books that really changed my perspective and changed my life for that matter. I am to this day a reader and love to continue to learn. All of these books help me to this day and it’s one thing that I am very grateful for.
When I got to my teens (13-16) my parents encouraged me to start working and start creating a source of income for myself. I started working as a cashier and a cook. Then I worked as a waitress and ended up being General Manager of a restaurant at 16 years old. Thanks to them being very pushy all those hard years, I am the person that I am today.
Another very important thing that my dad has taught me and has been stuck in my head ever since he first told me is this “You MUST learn from other people’s mistakes, not only yours. You can’t excuse your mistakes all the time.” It took me a while to understand this to the fullest, but I now do. I do make mistakes like everyone else, but I am more cautious about my decisions and what I do.
I am very grateful for the Mom and Dad that I have, they have taught me a lot more. But these take the biggest impact in my life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
