We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Billy Zehr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Billy below.
Billy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents were very kind humans both to me and to everyone they ever met. My Mother is really excellent at interior design and was very good at teaching me how to design a space with what you have available. Dont want to toot on my brass horn so I won’t but you get the drift! My father was an award winning chef for many years he owned The Old MiLL Restaurant and Wine Bar in Newton KS closed the doors in 1992. This was really hard for him and he struggled from that day forward till he recently passed. I learned more from him in this past year since he passed away then I was able to receive while he was physically with us. He is very much with me spiritually and I fucks with the string theory for those who know. I love you Dad! Mom I will come get my things soon I love you so much!!

Billy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I am based out of KCMO at UntappedKC 427 Westport Rd. where I have a bunch of my work on display from small to quite large. Geo Expressionalism would be my forte, so happens I am also fourtaaay years old. Go Figure! I am a recording artist as well and will be dropping my album soon! you can find my music on all platforms. Services provided would be anything from commissioned artwork to customization of clothing shoes furniture and attitude if necessary!
I am set apart from everyone alive because I just have a different repertoire so to speak. I move different look different, I am more swaggy then shaggy but I used to be both shaggy and swaggy. My art pours from both the sky and my heart, I feel as though I have been on earth all these years to do what I am doing now. I am passionate, I am ART! Also notable that my grandfathers name was Art.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is unwind all the bullshit society does to us by pouring it out of my soul onto whatever it is I am painting or saying in my music.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Embracing and nurturing one who has the desire to explore their creativity is essential. It can be an uncomfortable thing to describe yourself as an artist and it is often met with a smirk. Creative placemaking is a deep need in most communities and would be a great start in the development of creative ecosystems.
