We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Yazgulia Hojaniyazova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Yazgulia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents made the most valuable influence on me, helping nourish the sense of taste I have now and how I view the world. During my childhood they took me to a variety of museums, galleries, and exhibitions. My mom and dad introduced me to different artists, musicians, jewelers and other creative people. Since my dad worked in the construction sector, we had a lot of books and magazines about interior design, architecture and so on.
We also often went for nature walks. I grew up in a very beautiful country surrounded by mountains and incredible landscapes. I think that has played a huge impact on developing my creativity.

Yazgulia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Yazgulia. I am a multidisciplinary creative behind Caméllia, Floral & Design Studio located just outside of Chicago – in the suburb of Northbrook, IL. My work spans across floral design, interior & event styling, and multiple other creative directions.
I am a very detail oriented person. In my work & Caméllia teamwork we are focusing on individual approach – from a single bouquet to an impressive project. We do provide corporate floral & styling services, event design, editorials, private creative exhibitions and social workshops, special floral gift deliveries, as well as renting Caméllia studio space for small events.
We are proud of providing corporate florals to world famous fashion house – Chanel, and also working with clients like Bloomingdale’s, The Ritz-Carlton, Crate & Barrel, Razny Jewelers, Rolex and others.
In 2021, Caméllia was a part of the bespoke floral exhibition Fleurs de Villes, where Michelle Obama was honored with floral embodiment at Ritz-Carlton Chicago.
I have a great love and passion when I create. Finding unique ideas, creating concepts, planning and then transforming it all into reality. During my career I produced hundreds of beautiful weddings, private events, photoshoots and more. I build a very strong team, who are passionate, just like me. We support each other and enjoy every moment of the creative process. I am considering myself very lucky to work as a creative, and have the opportunity to be surrounded with beauty and bring creativity to the world through my vision.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
You never bored:) I know it’s funny, but it’s so true. You don’t have time for depression, you share love through creativity with people and rewards a very good energy back.
It’s like a medicine to the soul.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I lost my parents two years ago… And I am still learning how to live without them. But one thing I have learnt for sure – we all need to live in the present moment and do things from the heart. Enjoying every instant, sharing kindness and not striving to make a plan for five years. If you believe in what you are doing and love what you are doing, then you will find the right way. Remember to enjoy the journey, not the final result.
