We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Celine Ramey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Celine below.
Alright, Celine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
There are new trends happening daily that it is kind of overwhelming to keep up. I always love to step out side of my comfort zone and to try all new types of photography styles to have it under my belt. In my business, I photograph maternity quite often and with that, I always try to mix it up so that my images aren’t always the same. I change it in ways from the location, poses and the dresses. I am constantly scouring the internet for inspiration and when it strikes, I like to get the ball rolling with that vision. And it isn’t just maternity. I have recently started to add boudoir photography to my repertoire which I’ve seen to become quite popular recently especially with brides-to-be. I always mix up my poses and locations for all of my clients to make sure that every session is unique.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! My name is Celine Ramey. I am 34 years old and based out of Arlington, Texas which is a part of the DFW metroplex. I am married to my wonderful husband, Brian, and we have 2 smart, energetic and loving boys named Grayson and Grant. As a photographer, most other photographers have their specific genre of photography that they prefer to stick to. I like to photograph it all! I specialize in maternity, weddings, couples, families, newborns and more! I love to keep life interesting so I do not limit myself to the types of photography that I shoot.
I have always been fascinated and dreamt of one day being a photographer and business owner. It wasn’t until 2018 when I decided to pursue my dream once my first son came into my life. Before I was a photographer, I worked in the service industry at various restaurants as a bartender and server since 2005. I realized after becoming a mother that the restaurant lifestyle did not match my daily lifestyle so I decided to make the change. I started off doing model call sessions for free to build my portfolio and it slowly grew. It was definitely a rocky start so I did small work here and there remotely for 2 years but once the pandemic hit, I was let go from those jobs and decided to put all of my eggs in the basket and only focus on my business full time. I had welcomed my 2nd son that year so having a newborn and my business was overwhelming but I had the best support system! I would not be able to do my sessions or edit without the help of my amazing mother and husband who adjusted their schedules to ensure that I was successful. I am so incredibly blessed to have them in my life.
I feel like having the service industry experience, it has really helped me to be more personable with my clients. I used to be a very shy person but I have come out of my shell and I am here to have fun with my clients and get to know them on a personal and professional level. I want to be friends with my clients for years to come so I want to make sure that they have the best experience!
I have done most of the of my work for my business by myself such as my website, booking link, logo, business cards, etc. It definitely took some trial and error and a lot of patience but I finally have everything settled and to the place that best represents me and my business.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I have found that a lot of my clients either hear about me from either word of mouth from my previous clients or Instagram/Facebook. I am constantly using hashtags for all of the different types of photos that I post and in the location that the photo was taken at. I am also a recommended vendor at a few wedding venues in DFW so that helps in the aspect of growing my wedding clientele. I think it helps that I shoot all different types of photography so my clients are not limited to my services.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I am always keeping up with my social media platforms to make sure that my clients are always up to date on all of my latest news. From themed minis, my availability and just my daily business life in general. I try to keep a constant communication with my clients at all time. Communication is key. I know it is a bit cliche but I do go by the Golden Rule to treat others the way that you would like to be treated but it is true. I communicate with my clients the same way that I would like for my photographer to communicate with me and I feel like that is a huge factor in my brand loyalty. If in the situation that I need to reschedule or I am behind in a gallery delivery, I always give my client plenty of heads up and reasoning. I have such an amazing relationship with all of my clients and I am extremely appreciative of every single one of them for putting their trust in me to capture all of their special moments. I would not be where I am today without the loyalty of my clients.
