Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danesha Ford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Danesha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
A couple of years ago I began to feel out of or just kinda off. I’d gone to the doctor for my annual and discovered I had high blood pressure. It was nothing outrageous but i did need medication to bring it down to a normal level. My doctor prescribed me a low dosage of blood pressure meds and sent me on my way. My family has a history of heart issues so this bothered me, but I’m like I’ll just take the meds. One night my husband and I had gone out to a comedy show. I’d gotten in the bed when we return and was suddenly woken in the middle of the night feeling extremely nauseous. I got up and made my way to the bathroom. The next thing I remember is waking up on our bathroom floor. I’d passed out. It scared the crap out of me. I told my husband the next morning and then made me a doctor’s appointment that Monday morning. My doctor said that my blood pressure must’ve dropped too low during my sleep which caused me to feel nauseous and then pass out. she took me off of the meds. I said well I wasn’t going to take them anymore, but what was I going to maintain my blood pressure because I can’t keep feeling like I’m feeling. Then i realize blood pressure is mainly controlled by your diet and exercise. At that point i knew I had to change. From that point I changed my lifestyle. There was no diet. I had to change the way I eat, i had to workout 3-4 times a week. I needed to live for my health. Don’t wait for a group of friends to join you on your New Years weight loss resolutions. It doesn’t take a group to be healthy. It takes a mindset. Are you ready to stop feeling sluggish and heavy? Then make that change for you. Be consistent. Don’t wait for the doctor to tell you here are the pills. There are natural remedies and practices that will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle in most cases. At what point is your health be a priority. Don’t get overwhelmed by machines in the gym. Grab a couple can goods while you are watching tv. Lift them alternately in your hands to work out those arms, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Don’t overwhelm yourself with goals you know you will have a hard time sticking to.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Coach D. I am the owner of Sweat Boutique Wellness and Empowerment. I started my business out of passion to help women and their families make #SelfCare a priority. In doing so, I’ve learned so much about myself and others. I know that we all deal with things that often overshadow our need to put us first. Through my health and wellness journey, I’ve become a Certified Fitness, Nutrition and Grief Coach. After going through so many phases of life, I’ve realized a lot of times our past traumas have kept us from being our healthiest.
I no longer want to see women and their families bound by their past or current situations. It’s time for us to take our health and wellness back by making #SelfCare a top priority.
Please allow me to be your wellness one stop shop. Let’s put together a realistic #SelfCare plan for you. Whether you need help with becoming more active, making healthy eating a lifestyle, or navigating through grief I am here ready to partner with you! Schedule your Wellness Consultation Today!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for me has been to share my journey as transparent as I possibly can. I don’t worry about appearing to be seemingly perfect. I share what I go through. Sometimes, I’m able to small through obstacles. Other times, I’m crawling out with tears and sweat. People look for someone they can relate to and connect with. Perfection doesn’t exist with me.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I had to take the last half of 2022 off because of a major surgery. I had to have a partial hysterectomy done. This was so devastating to me because I also had to take the later part of 2021 off because I’d developed Bell’s Palsy due to stress and high blood pressure. These were such traumatic events to me because I truly love what I do and I needed to make money. During these times, God sustained myself and my family. We never went without. Although, I couldn’t understand in the moment why He had me sitting still. I understand it was necessary for my next level. I’m at peace and I respect the hustle of business owners so much more. I also realized I had to practice what I preached. Self Care has to be a priority.
