We were lucky to catch up with Vivianna Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vivianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
As a business owner, woman, and active member of society, the best investment I have ever made has been in myself.
All too often we spend our time and money investing in “quick fix” items. These are just a distraction and take away from the absolute most important investment there is: ones self.
As a result of investing in myself, my business has grown substantially, the opportunity for a new business endeavor has presented itself, my relationship with my family is thriving, and I am truly at peace with myself.
In order to help our improve and grow our careers, society, family, and everything else in between, we must first be the best version of ourself.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I visualized the idea of American Woman Beauty in late 2020 and started to pursue my dream in 2021. I started American Woman Beauty because I saw that there was a need for American Made beauty products. As someone who is proud of being an American, it was important for me to work with fellow Americans that are small business manufacturers.
All too often, small businesses (especially manufacturers) suffer because of the “cheaper” manufacturing prices offered by large corporations that are located overseas. AWB is doing their part in helping put money back in the hands of fellow small businesses.
American Woman Beauty is not like any other beauty brand. Not only do we offer unique one of a kind products, we also go against the grain! We are rebels, we think for ourselves, we love America, we support other women, and we never conform to societal expectations. Our goal is to create a positive community for women to come together. To celebrate ourselves with American Made makeup and beauty products.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was a young mother. Like many other young moms, motherhood was the last thing on my mind. When I ended up becoming pregnant things drastically changed for me. However, they ultimately changed for the better. I was 19 years old and in the middle of attending college. It was by chance (and some luck) that I had my daughter during Spring Break of college. Instead of throwing in the towel and dropping out mid semester, I made the choice to work through the struggles of being a mom and finish out the semester strong. In doing so, I realized just how strong I could be.
Fast forward 6 years, I decided it was time to move from California where I grew up and start a new life elsewhere. I ended up applying for a Management job on the other side of the country in Maryland. After applying, I received a call back and within one month, I was making the move to a brand new place with my 5 y/o. We packed our suitcases, loaded the car and were on our way with the little belongings we had.
Both of these experiences taught me resilience and what it means to push through. AS a result, American Woman Beauty was created. AWB is so much more than just a beauty brand. Our mission is to help inspire women to be bold and fearless. To be resilient and never quit.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
As a small business, it has been extremely important for us to create memorable experiences for all of our customers. For AWB, it is not just about purchasing good quality makeup, it is also about being treated like family. Customer service and product quality go hand in hand.
Bi yearly, we send out Thank you cards to all of our customers from that period (big & small). We do this for two reasons:
1. To show our appreciation for their continued support.
2. It gives us the opportunity to keep in touch.
Building positive relationships fosters brand loyalty and as a result, new customers turn into repeat customers.
Our customers have also been the best new client source for us. And as you may or may not know, the best types of new customers are the ones that come from personal referrals. I believe that our large referral rate is testament to the exceptional customer service that we provide.
