We recently connected with Ashley Kaee and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew that I wanted to to pursue a creative artistic career because it naturally came to me as a child. As a kid I was always singing and always creative. So becoming an actual singer in tattoo artist those were my dream jobs as a child.

Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I always have a hard time finding a starting point when people ask me about my story, you know, because it’s like what you want to know type deal, I done been through a lot of shit. But I can start with I am originally from Little Rock Arkansas. I am the oldest of seven children. I have my bachelor’s degree in Sociology and minor in Psychology at Wiley College and I’ve been singing basically my whole life. I am an artist, tattoo artist, singer, and songwriter, I wear many hats. I am a part of the best band in the world Freakwency. I don’t come from much, but I’m coming for everything. I want to be an inspiration for people who were dealt hard cards in life to know that they can beat the odds, be successful, and most importantly be happy.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect, I could say being an artist is watching all of my vision come to life. When I write a song and I’m not quite sure where to go with it I love to hear the finished product is just so satisfying. Also when I paint a picture and I’m in the middle of it not quite finish you know end it looks a little crazy but once it’s finished its one of the most beautiful’s pictures you’ve ever completed and that’s very satisfying for me as a creative.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I had to learn being a part of this industry is learning that you are going to waste time. A friend told me that along time ago, we were in the studio and I was getting upset , because I wasn’t getting a line as fast as I would like to. He stopped me dead in my tracks and let me know that if I don’t gain some patience now and Im not gonna make it so thats something I always been on thing I keep in the back of my head. When my stuff is going wrong or is not going exactly how I thought it would go, I remember time will be wasted and thats just simply a part of the journey.
