Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Douglas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sean, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
How I started all four of my businesses, and even my coaching programs and services, was I found a need that wasn’t being met in the marketplace. If there was a need, it was met poorly by the companies who were supposed to be experts. So I decided I would create a business and keep in mind everything that made me mad about it and improve it. We also created our own market category. When Category Designers create new ideas or companies, they create new categories which allows them to earn 76% of the market revenue inside that category while everyone else fights for the remaining 24%. I created a new market category by creating a problem that only I can solve, and then sold my solution, which is what I do every day. I figured out the problem I wanted to solve, made it bigger and more emotional, and marketed the problem I solve. That is how you go from just an idea, to creating a new market category by creating a problem only you can solve, to growing and scaling through all forms of marketing.
Sean, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

While serving my country since 2001 as an Active Duty Air Force Airman, I created and operated four successful businesses. His book “Decisions: The Power To Overcome Self-Defeating Behaviors”, reflects his passion for inspiring others to succeed and grow through the worst seasons of their life.
Considered an “Icon of Influence in the New Media Space”, I host three top rated podcasts across business, resilience, and personal development categories.
We’d appreciate any insights you can share with us about selling a business.
I started Life Transformation Radio in 2017. It wasn’t a podcast, but a LIVE online radio show that was repurposed into a podcast. While I was retiring from the military, I sold that radio show and all of its assets because I did not feel I could keep up with the daily show. One major lesson I learned was to keep track of how far your reach is. I didn’t realize how far wide my show reached. Be aware of how the RSS feed intertwines into search and into automation.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I created a business while deployed to the Middle East. I was balancing so many different roles and building a team to handle what I couldn’t was key. There were many times I thought about giving up just because of where I was and what I should have been concentrating on, but having a secondary mission to concentrate on and distract from where I was on my of time helped me mentally push myself to make it back home.
