We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Selmin Karatas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Selmin below.
Selmin, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The natural, rich ingredients present in Kazani formulas have been essential to our family for many decades. As a child, I spent beautiful, dazzling summers along the coast of the Turkish Mediterranean basking in all of the rare history and splendor the land has to offer, running barefoot in the grass, picking olives from the trees, and learning about the dynamics of rural life.
As I visited, surrounded by generations of family members, I was often captivated by the stories of my descendants using the Mediterranean land’s natural ingredients to protect their hair and skin from the elements, sustain their bodies, create thicker, fuller hair, smooth skin, and beyond. After I grew older, I longed for ways to bring the nourishing luxury of my family’s luxury Pagan beauty routines to a wider global audience and consumer.
To do so, I enlisted the help of my dad, a widely regarded professional French chef who worked in Manhattan, New York for over 40 years for some of the city’s most high-end establishments, politicians, and celebrities. Trained under the guidance of world renowned chef Paul Bocuse, my father was taught to value quality and ingredient above all, which directly translated into his work developing Kazani offerings.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

To do so, she enlisted the help of her father, Ali, a widely regarded professional French chef who worked in Manhattan, New York for over 40 years for some of the city’s most high-end establishments, politicians, and celebrities. Trained under the guidance of world renowned chef Paul Bocuse, Ali was taught to value quality and ingredient above all, which directly translated into his work developing Kazani offerings.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My father and I started Kazani and it is a family honored traditional business.
Have you ever had to pivot?
During the pandemic, we realized that we needed to pivot by working on our online presence. Thus, we worked really hard and revamped the Kazani website.
