We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaun Grant. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aatara below.
Shaun, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
In 2011, I left New Orleans to embark upon a journey to a greater life in Los Angeles. At the time I was filled with so much apprehensive and fearful energy, that I almost decided not to go through with it. I had lived my entire life in Southeast Louisiana, and had never left home to embark upon something of this magnitude. But the reality was, I knew my heart was urging me to grow and expand into a new environment. So amidst the worry and uncertainty, on May 16, 2011 I pushed through it and began my 30 hour drive to the West Coast. This was no doubt, at that point, the biggest risk of my life, but I needed to do it. Throughout my journey, there were many tests of courage and challenges to overcome. At the start of my trek, all I had was $263.43 in my bank account, my 2003 chevy Silverado and a couch (place to stay) offered to me by my family to sleep on until I could get on my feet. As the days went on, things got worst. Some nights I cried myself to sleep wondering if I had made the right decision. Staring me in the face was a way out when I was offered $2000 from a relative to return home and enjoy the “SAFETY” I had lived in for so many years. But deep down my soul knew that I had to be here in order to evolve into the man that I wanted to be. FAITH WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO QUIT! DEEP DOWN I KNEW THERE WAS MORE FOR ME HERE….NOW! For those first two and a half months, there was hardship it seemed like almost everyday. Yet, I endured, and one door after another opened up to enable me to assimilate to this new experience. I continued to tell myself, “don’t give up, you can do this, you have the strength to see it through. There came a time when I reached a point of breakthrough. Around mid July, a friend who knew I had an extensive background in fitness referred me to one of the top fitness centers in the greater Los Angeles area. After a short interview process, they hired me and I excelled to the point of becoming one of the top trainers in Los Angeles, even appearing on TV shows such as National Geographic Wild and Inside Edition. Not only that, as my fitness career was taking off, I found the outlet to do more of the creative things I loved, like writing, acting, speaking, and teaching mindset mastery. This led to some of the greatest experiences of my life as a performer and entrepreneur. Most importantly, I met my wife only three months after I made the move. We have been happily married now for ten years and we encourage each other to live our best lives through the freedom of creative expression. All of this happened because of the risk I was willing to take back in May 2011. In life, there’s always a risk (of thought) that things won’t work themselves out. But the reality is, that all depends upon us and the inner conviction that enables us to believe in ourselves wholeheartedly. Back then, I didn’t possess as much self confidence as I do now. But the real reason everything continues to work itself out is that I’ve made up my mind that I’m going to always find a way to benefit and succeed from any situation at hand. The spiritual power of God within me assures it in all that I do. So if you’re faced with a risk, tell yourself, ” I am going to do everything that I need in order to benefit from this situation. And the reality is, as long as I’m aware that it is inevitable for me to benefit one way or another, through lesson or blessing, I truly have nothing to worry about at all. Live your life, take the risk, and give it all you got!
Shaun, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a spiritual counselor who specializes in mindset mastery, money mastery, and soulful evolution through inner introspection. I travel around the world to speak the truth about these concepts to all who are willing to listen. I also create content on all of these topics in great detail through books, published articles, podcasts, and YouTube videos.
My intention with all of these gifts is to point the individual toward a truth within themselves that empowers them to expand towards their greatest capacity.
The thing I am most proud of is that I transform lives everyday just by following the highest expression of God within myself. It is rewarding and fulfilling.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
There is one resource, one powerful resource that I wish I had a greater understanding about earlier in my creative journey. That resource is myself. The most impactful resource in any journey is the limitless, expansive, dynamic version of you that only exists when you know who you truly are as a divine being having a human experience.
From this inner fountain of wisdom, knowledge, insight, and understanding lies everything you need to find successful, impactful, fulfilled living. The beauty is, it is revealed to you one step at a time.
It is accessed through meditation and relaxed focus on the Divine essence within you. Meditation, on the deepest level that I understand now is also something that I would have done more of earlier in my journey. But truth is, I am what I am, because I did what I did, and I am at peace with that.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The mission, or intention everyday of my existence is to lovingly reveal the highest expression of God as myself in all that I do. This intention ensures that no movement or action is ever wasted, but has an exponential impact on all who come into contact with it.
