We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Savannah Becerril. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Savannah below.
Savannah, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope my legacy will be that I always strived to inspire people to grow, whether that’s personally, spiritually, or through their businesses. I have worked hard to showcase that mindset through my business, Go Savvy, where we plan purpose-driven events for business, nonprofits, and artists. Even as a young girl, I always felt different from many of my family members as I just could not seem to settle. I always wanted to grow, learn more, do more, go beyond expectations and open my life to new possibilities. I think because of that mindset, many of my friends felt comfortable sharing their ideas with me and accepting feedback. Half the time, I didn’t know what I was talking about, but I drew upon my experiences, made it a point to be transparent, and offered up creative ideas. It’s in these conversations, coupled with my love for music and events, that allowed me to form Go Savvy. Now, I have found a way to do what I love while also helping others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Savannah Becerril and I operate an event planning and promotions company called, Go Savvy.
I feel blessed to say I spent my whole life leading up to doing something that I love. Many people do not get to say that. I grew up a musician, singer, and an athlete who took the words, “you can’t because you’re a girl” as a challenge. After high school, I became a certified audio engineer and spent the next 13+ years running sound and production of live events from car launches, to corporate conferences, and of course awesome live concerts. I continued my education at the University of Houston and joined the currently #1 program in the country, the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship at the Bauer School of Business. The Wolff center only allows 35 students from around the world, into their program every spring semester. When I applied, I didn’t get in but then I scheduled a meeting with the directors a week later and essentially argued my way in. That was definitely one of the more defining moments in the build up of my career as I let the Wolff Center with life lasting connections and friends. I graduated with a double major in Entrepreneurship and Marketing.
After college, I created Go Savvy. It took me time to niche down our services to just Event Planning and Event Promotion for businesses and nonprofits, but once I did and developed a more targeted audience, it became a lot easier to sell our services. I learned that there are not many event planners who provide services strictly to business owners and nonprofits. I also learned that live experiences are a huge benefit to companies by creating revenue, brand awareness, and quality connections. When we host a purpose-driven event, we make sure our clients understand:
– Who their audience is and what they want
– How to reach them on their level
– How to not let their audience forget who hosted the event
– The importance of follow up post event.
We take these key points and couple them with top quality, creative, and strategic planning services to host a fabulous event. In the process of planning, we often save our clients time, resources, and even money. We are also working on developing solid metrics that will prove how purpose-driven events can create an ROI for our clients. All metrics and goals aside, we love to plan fun celebrations and getaways like business anniversaries, retreats, and holiday parties as well.
Types of events we’ve planned:
– Networking mixers
– Brand activation pop-up booths
– Retreats
– Galas & fundraising events
– Sporting events
– Conferences
– Grand Openings and Open Houses
– Workshops, clinics, and training expos
– Festivals
– Art shows
– Celebrations and private events

Have you ever had to pivot?
COVID-19 required a massive pivot on my part as the owner of an event planning company. We suddenly stopped planning in-person events from March 2020 – February 2021 in Houston, TX. I quickly experienced the following:
– Virtual and hybrid events became a thing. My background in technology aided me in quickly picking up the various software.
– I had to update my services contract ASAP to minimize loss of funds and include that lovely “covid-clause”.
– Safety, which is always important in events, suddenly became the #1 topic of discussion with our clients. In fact, I invested in large supply of sanitizers to provide at client events.
– My audio engineer skills suddenly became the most important in my tool kit as I made ends meet by editing and mastering podcasts.
– Most importantly, I learned just how volatile the event industry that supported my livelihood for so many years, can be and to always have a backup plan.
By the end of Q2, 2021, in-person events began to surface again and Go Savvy was on the road to recovery. In Q1 of 2022, we still feel the strain (no pun intended) that COVID-19 has left on the business but we are confident we will continue to grow. I am also a bit more wise on how to protect my company for future global chaos.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Experience, integrity, and building quality relationships have helped set the tone and character of Go Savvy. We never stop saying how much we value our relationships with our clients, vendors, and venue partners because it’s true and we show it time and time again.
