Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tatiana Seijas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tatiana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.
Our story started in 1984 when Nery – a mother of the bride on a budget – did the flowers for her first daughter’s wedding in Westchester, Miami. Talk about DIY, huh?
The guests liked the wedding flowers so much, that they started recommending Nery for other events. Long story short, today we are a family business – 3 generations of women and one lucky guy – who love what we do.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Nery’s Flowers is an event floral design company. We are a family business who are dedicated to making your special events picture perfect with expertly designed florals at realistic price points.
We strive to be creative, flexible, and communicative – offering each customer fast, friendly communication, a personalized proposal to fit their style and budget, and – of course! – beautiful and fresh floral arrangements.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
She’s my Grandma! Nery’s Flowers was her “side hustle” for about 30 years. When she retired from her full time, we quickly realized she was not cut out for retired life. Keeping busy seems to be a family requirement!
Tati made her a website and opened an instagram for her, agreeing to manage it for the few events she might do a year. After all, she worked out of her living room – how much work could it be? !And so, Nery’s Flowers became Tati’s side hustle, too.
After about 4 years of that, there were too many inquiries for both ladies to keep up with, plus Tati’s full time job, So instead of scaling back, Tati decided to jump into Nery’s Flowers full time and took over as manager.
Today, Tati is still running the business and Nery says she is re-retired but can’t keep her hands still whenever she’s in the studio.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Communication, Consistency and Collaboration.
When we receive feedback, these are often the words most commonly used. Because we have been brides before, we know how hard the experience can be to navigate and how frustrating it is to try to work with vendors who are rigid, rude, or simply won’t respond. It’s a bigger issue than you can imagine!
So as we continue to grow, we strive to provide friendly service with open communication that helps us deliver what our clients expect, consistently and at a reasonable price.
