We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarah Glass a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you manage your own social media?
I run our social media channels for the most part – with lots of awesome assistance from the team with photo and video help.
Sarah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a predominately self- taught potter with 13 years of experience wheel throwing. The arts has always been an important part of my life. I love working with other designers and chefs to create special tableware pieces that complement their brand. I am most proud of the awesome community of artists we have at the pottery studio in Flagler Village, Fort Lauderdale! I teach clay workshops and have a membership studio.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have had about 6 different pottery studios throughout the years due to various issues… We are so thankful to be where we are now! Our studio is located on the top floor of a charming historic building with a gorgeous view of downtown.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Pottery was just one of many side hustles for me for many years. My main side hustle was selling vintage clothing online. The pottery business has now become the main hustle. Although I do at times miss spending an entire day scavenging for treasure throughout the tri- county area, I absolutely love that the studio has grown so much. A key milestone for me is having been completely self employed for several years and having made it through the COVID shutdown.
