We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jonathan Ramirez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jonathan below.
Jonathan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
How did I learn to do what I do? Trial, repetition, and loads of Research on youtube, social media, word of mouth, and, in recent years, I am attending Full Sail University for my Bachelors in Music Production. These were contributing factors in helping me grow as a professional Songwriter and Music Producer. What could I have done different knowing what I know now is believe in myself off the back and stay focused on my goals and dreams instead of things that kept me from them; this to me would have definitely sped up the learning process. I would say concentration and consistency were and still are my most valuable assets. Having those skills are the most essential for anyone in any pursuits of life. How many obstacles stood in my way?! There are too many to remember, but some of the worst were impostor syndrome, depression, and, my favorite of them all, distractions. Distractions, what i mean by this is allowing my outside environment to be the result of my inner environment and I say inner environment of reference of the mind of course.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
How i got into making my creativity a legitimate business, is Dreaming! It started with a dream to be the best i can be. I feel as a Songwriter and Music Producer, it is my obligation to bring you good music. What sets me apart from other artist, is my authenticity. You get the real me, with every song, lyric, melody, and harmony. One of the biggest things i am proud of, is i did not quit, and as my career continues, i want everyone know to know, I do this for them. My music is me discovering myself, and sharing that journey in hopes it might be of service to those who hear it.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part in doing what i do, is the peoples lifes i can save. I feel like society has been warped into this prison of our minds and spirits. We have grown Disharmonious with nature, we are more concerned about celebrities cheating on one another, versus repairing our ecosystems, making GMO foods illegal, helping our brothers and sisters across the globe who have nothing to eat. It is sickening how the leaders of our planet are treating us and truly not helping us, and this is why being a creator has the most rewarding experience. With my music i will touch the hearts and minds of billions! and remind everyone that earth is our home and we must at all cost choose to protect her, even if that means giving up luxuries of comfort!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
There isn’t one particular story that can demonstrate my resilience, rather a million. However what i can say is, when i was merely a child my mother was addicted to drugs. My older brother, and sister saw our mother in this way. When i was growing up i saw her trying to better herself and try, but everyone around her would constantly bring up her past, and remind her of her mistakes. Then, when she would relapse or mess up, they would just confirm they were right. I did not agree with this at all. To me, you can not pour gasoline on a seed and expect the flower to bloom beautifully. You need to give it the proper nourishment, and if the flower is not coming out as you expected it too, you still can not blame the flower for it is a product of its environment. This has been and on going battle since i was a child, and recently the journey has lead my mother deported to our country in Ecuador. As i was growing up i would only get to see her on weekends and even then once i was 16 i didn’t see her as often yet, i still continue on and do my best to show love not just to my family for our disagreements but the world and its issues as well. My resilience is beyond imaginable. so you see, there is not one story but a series of them that make up my entire life. Where my resilience is illustrated, is in my constant dedication to push on and be the best version i can be for myself, for my future children, for my family, and for the world.
