We were lucky to catch up with Shannon Henry recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Shannon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to create a unique personalized experience with passion and enthusiasm, and photographs that our clients will love.

Shannon, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My journey into photography began in high school, learning film and darkroom techniques. While it remained a hobby for many years, it ended up turning into my full time passion and business. My education has continued over the years taking individual courses, peer mentoring, and inspiration drawn from movies and art. Having a boutique studio has allowed me to offer a more one on one experience for the client and allows me to get to know them more personally…adding to the results I can get from the other side of the camera. Over the years, I’ve expanded my genres from events to smaller intimate portrait sessions and a few things in-between, giving me well rounded experience to photograph many types of situations.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I was able to fund my small business with a little bit of inheritance from my grandfather. He was the man who instilled hard work and perseverance so I knew he would be proud in the investment of my business.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
While the photographs speak for themselves, I pride myself on ensuring a great experience for my clients. I work on building relationships that last a lifetime, photographing families from stage 1 (weddings) to the kid stage! I also love face-to-face networking and helps with building relationships for referrals.
