Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kristin Revere. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kristin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
I created Gold Coast Doulas in May of 2015 with a public launch in October of 2015. My business partner and I wanted to create a one-stop agency that served families from conception though the first year. We spent a lot of time planning, I would have launched earlier and corrected things later knowing what I now know. Things don’t need to be perfect.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into this work after having children myself and realized that women needed more support. I am proud to have created the first shared call model of care in our area to make the work more sustainable for other doulas. Gold Coast prides itself on judgment-free support. No matter how you birth or parent, we’ve got you! We are a proud Certified B Corp and believe in blending profit and purpose.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I was a solo doula in the market and so was my then business partner. We already had a reputation and referrals from past clients and other healthcare professionals. That helped so much with the public launch. We were the first doula agency in our area.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We pride ourselves on putting the customer first and being responsive. It has led to many client referrals and testimonials. Word of mouth is the best referral source.
