We were lucky to catch up with Candice Corder recently and have shared our conversation below.
Candice, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When creating the name of my company, I was looking for something that was different and refreshing. I didn’t want to be cliché and just use my name within my title so I started looking up different synonyms for light in google. The words light, brightness , and beauty were all around the image of my brand I was going for and in the end Glimmered was a word that just stuck with me . So I named my makeup business Glimmeredbeauty.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello ,
My name is Candice and I’m 26 years of age and I am a local make up artist in the Nashville area. I’ve always been interested and really good at art in school and noticed that I was drawn to art and being creative. In my earlier years I was always the one winning art contest or had others in awe with my creativity. It was not until high school that I started to wear, makeup for dance shows and my classmates/ teammates would want me to do their face for a performance because they would noticed how detailed I was on my own face. From there I started to venture out and practice on others ,certain trends that were in or certain color schemes that would come to mind and I would just roll with it .
I also started to even do makeup tutorials on myself via my phone in my room.It was not until someone brought to my attention I should start doing makeup professionally. I thought to myself “why not do something that I love and get paid for it at the same time”.I started up my own business to not only get paid but to cater to women of all colors who want to give an enhancement to their own personal glow. Hence for Glimmered Beauty was born .Glimmered Beauty sets me apart from other business because I use quality products on each one of my costumers. I have took the time to train and perfect my craft ,all while getting feedback and constructive criticism from my clients. I take all of it in to hopefully expand so I can travel with my brand. I aspire to tour within the entertainment business being a personal makeup atrust and one day can open up a beauty line in the near future. Today , I can say I am very proud of myself for stepping out on something I was very skeptical of and didn’t have much knowledge on the business side of things but continued to learn as I expand my brand.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I would say the most effective strategy for growing my brand would be social media. I noticed, as long as I am making a reel, post or even video via Facebook , Instagram or Twitter post that I continue to grow my clientele and bring in more business. Showcasing what I have to offers always brings in the next person.
If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
My business does have multiple revenue streams! I always have clients who tend to forget one of the most important things for their look which would be false eyelashes. So I’ve created a way for clients to purchase a set of eyelashes to increase revenue coming in . You will always need a great pair of eyelashes to enhance the look ,so I know it is very essential for a makeup artist to have on hand .
