We recently connected with Mecaylla Daniels and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Mecaylla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I first began F.I.T. as a platform for relatable parents to feel their most comfortable selves. As I experienced the many obstacles and celebrations as a mom, I realized there were so many more parents who could relate to the pressures of being “fit” for parenthood. I wanted to change the definition of being fit and put a twist on things. Fit isn’t mainly about remaining the perfect figure, but becoming comfortable in your own definition of being a fit mom or dad. Whether that is biological, adopted, grand parents we’ve all had an impactful parent-like role once in our lives.
Mecaylla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are F.I.T. which stands for Timeless in Fashion. Our clothing line is street and athletic wear to compliment the comfort in our skin. The goal is to bring back the traditional throwback natural figure while still looking and feeling great. There’s a need for authenticity in the world BRING BACK THE REAL… THE REAL IS BACK and we welcome you into our world. I am proud to be able to share my story and allow others to feel free enough to relate. Society’s norms can’t place a cap on what’s destined to be
How did you build your audience on social media?
With F.I.T. , I wanted the audience to be authentic and natural. Over the years, I’ve learned that asking for support brings temporary popularity. The rush of support is so wonderful in the beginning because everyone tends to support all at once, but it eventually dies down: Instead, I strive for consistency from my targeted audience because I know it’ll be long lasting. It’s important to build a rapport with followers, it allows them to feel connected and forever indebted. Daily engagement with stories, posts and questionnaire polls assures the audience that you are dedicated and active. Social media is difficult to manage at times, but with a plan and drive it can be done!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I first began working on F.I.T. in 2020 and put the idea into motion months following. I had this wonderful idea without much of a plan to get business flowing, which caused me to become discouraged. I’ve experienced many tests with marketing, budgeting, failed investments and felt defeated for a while. I gave my businesses a rest expecting it to pick back up on its own somehow. One day I decided I was done getting in my own way. My dream, passion and reason was not going to go down the drain because of a few bumps in the road. What is a successful story without some errors along the way? Everyone who is working on a passion, experiencing the everyday trials of entrepreneurship, don’t give up. Take a rest but never snooze the alarm clock on yourself. When it’s your turn, make it worth it and memorable.
