Ashleigh , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
To be honest, my blog originated from a desire to feel included in the trendy new blog wave that was hitting the world in the early 2010’s. I started the blog as a way to document my everyday life and from there is took many different turns and twists. It went from fashion to diy to a combo of the both and finally landed on travel with a lifestyle element. I really had no idea what I was doing, nor did I have any kind of definitive plan, so making decisions about the blog were sporadic and not very long lived.
I have always loved traveling and being able to do it as a job sounded incredibly enjoyable. I decided to finally invest in the idea by purchasing a professional travel blogging course and redesigning my blog space on a new platform. It was the hardest and most rewarding decision I have made with blogging. I’m still working towards getting my feet under me again, but for the first time I feel like I have plan and that this idea will actually work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
It was something that I just wanted to try since everyone else at the time had one. I also liked the idea of getting to design a website. As to what I was writing about, I really didn’t have any plan until the past year and I’m still working-shopping that. I will say though that being able to connect with others through social media and my website has been so fun; attending blogging conferences has also been really helpful in getting connected with other businesses and the blogging community.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, I would really like to have a small company one day that works together to provide travel content that others find helpful. In owning my own company, I would be able to make my own hours as well as create a space for other creatives that would give them the opportunity to practice their craft without being over worked and underpaid. After working in many businesses where this did not seem like a priority to those in management, I have wanted to create a space to be able to implement these things.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
This is something that I wish I could just feel into existence. For me, creating involves a lot of just having a happy feeling inside while making art in whatever form, whether that is photographing something or creating a social post or simply pairing colors schemes together. There’s something very soul feeding about it for me.
