We were lucky to catch up with Teresa Pitt Sholar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Teresa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission has always been to reach the Uber busy and help them find a way to incorporate health and wellness in their lives. As a busy mom who was looking for the business that was created, I get what it feels like to run at 100 mph and feel like there are just not enough hours in the day. Unfortunately, mothers, wives, working women tend to put themselves at the back of the priority line.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are a business of mobile gyms/personal training services. We come to homes and businesses with self contained private gyms and train busy men and women! We love that our clients are busy and encourage them to literally set aside 30 or 45 minutes for themselves at a designated time during the day. Our trucks are like all other gyms with lights, music, mirrors, and equipment but in a private environment that is literally right outside your door. Our training comes with a trainer to encourage you and keep you on track week after week (even when you might not want to).
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
We are a referral based business for sure. We are still relatively small so many people have yet to know that we are even a thing! We are thrilled to have our current clients refer their friends and family to us. We know how valuable our services are to busy men and women and we are thrilled to be a solution for someone who felt hopeless.

Have you ever had to pivot?
There have been so many pivot points in my business. In any new business, you learn as you go and as you grow.
I once tried group classes at an outdoor park for a season. These were super fun but were quite a bit more work than a typical client session. I also learned that working at 5am and 7pm might not be good for longevity or for avoiding burn out. Setting boundaries for running your business, business hours, client interaction, etc is critical and comes with experience and the understanding that people who hire us are likely in the same boat and have also had to learn the art of boundary setting themselves.
Covid was a giant pivot where we spent much time on video calls and FaceTime workouts. We eventually would come to appreciate that Covid helped us grow. People became comfortable in a smaller space and felt a sense of security in seeing the space cleaned after each client. We came back stronger than ever after Covid.
