Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latraice Venair. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Latraice thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Never give up! It’s alright to take a break but don’t give up. I would also say, surrounding yourself with the right people is a major key in becoming successful.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My is Latraice Venair also know as “Made Up by Tracy” and I’m a Professional Makeup Artist from Long Island, NY! In 2013 I attended beauty school while working a retail job I hated. After I graduated I started doing freelance work (hair & makeup) on the side and working in salons. Once I became an official licensed cosmetologist I quit my retail job to pursue beauty full time.
My work consist of the most “Natural” everyday glams to “Editorial”!
I believe what sets me apart is the love & passion I have for this industry. It’s bigger than a paycheck for me (even though getting paid is nice) Whenever I have the opportunity to help someone look their best, I am the most happiest!
I am most proud of my ability to make people feel so happy & beautiful once they leave my chair! I focus on the needs of my clients to help bring their vision to life. Their reaction is always the biggest reward for me!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Biggest lesson I had to unlearn was putting higher expectations in others over myself especially, when it came to my business! When I was ready to grow in the industry and take my business to newer heights, I put higher expectations in others to help get me there instead of just believing in myself. That had to stop and once i did my business began to flourish.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Taking charge of my life and enrolling into beauty school was my pivot moment in life. I always knew I wanted to be apart of the beauty industry from a child! Growing up watching my aunt Denise (who was one of the top hairstylist in town) definitely inspired me. But once I grew up, I was told the beauty industry was not a real job and was for people who doesn’t take life seriously…we’ll that sucks right! So I attended business school with hopes of landing a 9-5 desk job. I was miserable and extremely depressed. Walking through those beauty school doors to enroll was one of the BEST decisions of my life no matter who it disappointed.
