We recently connected with Lina Cooper and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
I’ll be honest, ever since I started making music I have been surrounded by amazing people. And most importantly, friends. I have had my friends believing in me and doing incredibly kind things all along the way. Teaching me how to distribute my music, promote it and grow as a creative. My friends have helped me mix, master, produce my songs for free or extremely cheap. All the photoshoots, videoshoots and various creative services they provided me with just because they believed in me and my music were the kindest things anyone has ever done for me in my career. I really appreciate them.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a songwriter, artist and producer based in Los Angeles, CA, a recent graduate of Berklee college of music. I was born in a small industrial town in the Eastern part of Ukraine called Donetsk. I have fallen in love with music ever since I was a kid. I knew I wanted to do music even before I really knew how it works. I moved to Boston at the age of 17, and while I was getting her degree at Berklee (two majors and two minors), I also worked 2 jobs and performed all over New England. My biggest inspirations have always been pop artists, producers and songwriters, such as Taylor Swift, Halsey, Lorde, Jack Antonoff, Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels, JP Saxe, Marina, Olivia O’Brien, John Mayer, Olivia Rodrigo, Louis Bell and many more. I think there is nothing better than a pop song you can relate to. When you hear a lyric that strucks you to the core, makes you feel something and you can sing along to it… This feeling is what I live for .Telling stories in the most memorable and beautiful way.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
One of the most important things in this field is really loving what you do. Because it’s not going to be an easy path. Being a creative of any sort is picking a difficult and unpredictable life over something stable. But I think it is 100% worth it int he end. As someone said, “if it was easy, then everyone would do it”.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect for me personally is making people happy. Seeing people relate and feel just a little bit less lonely and more understood. Seeing people sing, clap, dance to my songs is the best.
