Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Fred T.. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Fred thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The day I realized that I was meant to be an entertainer was back in high school! I wasn’t too big on acting but one of my best qualities was making people laugh from my family to my friends. One day my teacher recommended that I audition for the one-act play in order to receive a bonus grade for a failing grade that I had in her class. I was against it but I didn’t want to fail her class so I auditioned. I got the role of a old guy and the moment I stepped on stage and started to play the character I felt a undeniable passion come over me like I was home! From that day on I know exactly what I was meant to do with my life!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well I’m a country boy from a small town with a big heart! I broke in the industry while in high school by performing in the high school theater Productions. From that point on I moved to the Dallas Texas area in order to pursue my career by attending local college and acting school which I developed my craft in a way that to this day shocks me! I absolutely love acting and performing but by breaking into filmmaking I saw the business as a whole another thing. I got a chance to understand some of the details that come with production and the industry in front of the camera and behind the camera. My life has been nothing short of amazing and a blessing but some things that I learned on the way or afterwards could have been different if the right people and teaching was out there for me together. Don’t get me wrong there were a lot of people that supported and helped me along the way to become a better artist and businessman but it was hard to seek out those things not knowing who to seek out for. In which now I come on to many different projects and try to help as many people as I can that are starting out in the business by being a liaisons to them. What really sets me apart from everybody else’s that I’m simple and I’m transparent. I tell people all the time if I say anything to you based off of my knowledge of what I’ve went through and done it’s coming from the heart and it’s always from Love never hate. If I don’t know how to help you I will research or find someone who does. One of my strongest qualities is that I am motivated by people and I believe in a positive energy that carries me in the right direction every time! I started my production company PowaHouse Studios in order to be a entertainment hub for each and everyone who wanted to be a successful entertainer not famous but successful. One thing that I have noticed within the acting community is that people really don’t have the knowledge of what to expect or do in this business which causes them to lose focus, become depressed, or just give up in general. Once again with my company we going to make sure we offer the best knowledge and power to anyone we come in contact with. PowaHouse Studios was created nearly 10 years ago and I am proud to say that we have created some pretty awesome content! From sitcoms to short films and feature films! Even though I’ve accomplished so much there’s still so much left to learn about and become better at within my career! I’ve heard people say in order for others to believe in you first you have to believe in yourself! That to me makes a lot of sense! So confidence is a big factor within my company in my business! One of the major things that I carry with me is that everything I do is God and spirit led! There’s no need to panic, worry, because it’s all a design and plan that’s been well thought out by God!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my career/life is to see people succeed! Regardless if they acknowledge me or anything that I have done for them. Just to see them become successful and reach the goals! As I said before I motivated by people. I believe well I know that God has given me a gift to help people by sharing my gifts and talents! So I’m not going for the glory of self gloating but the glory of me being apart of someone’s success on some level.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
It’s very simple on what society can do to support artists and creators! Just do exactly that support them without any other alternative motive. Support somebody because you truly want to see them succeed not because you trying to get any Glory or anything like that. We are so ready to support people we don’t know but there’s people right in our own backyard that are doing the same thing and we devalue them because they’re not in mainstream or in our eyes famous! Just support!
