We were lucky to catch up with Audrey Cooper, Tammie Cooper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Audrey Cooper, Tammie, thanks for joining us today. The first dollar you earn in a new endeavor is always special. We’d love to hear about how you got your first client that wasn’t a friend or family.
Cooper Vue Photography started small, as do many. Our first client was a friend, who still comes to us to this day! As we tried to advertise for new clients, one way we gained experience was to do mini sessions, in exchange for a donation to a charity in our community. We would donate all funds directly to the local organizations! It was a way for us to meet new people, practice our trade, and give back.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We started Cooper Vue Photography between 2013-2014. My mother in law (to be) and I worked together at an office, we both had a passion for photography, so we decided to give it a shot. For years we worked together at a day job, and did photography on weekends for family and friends. For the past 8 years we have practiced, grew, and met new faces. In 2021 we rented our first studio space, and things have only went up from there. The opportunities that having our own space have created are abundant.
Starting 2023 Jan 1st, I will be opening a virtual gallery on my website that will showcase a journey of my current art portfolio from the past several years. This is a new format of which I will present my new series after live shows for those who can’t make it in person.
We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
My business partner is none other than my mother-in-law! Not many people can say they get along well with in-laws, let alone own a business together! We met when I was 14 years old, and her son brought home a shy, quiet, girl!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in life is to give back, whether that be through service, or through money. As we grow our business, I never want to lose sight of the community that helped us get started. We never want anyone to miss out on having life moments captured due to a financial situation, and we stand by that.
