We were lucky to catch up with Joseph Terranova recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Joseph thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I’d come up with the idea to start a boutique video production company simply out of being interested in telling stories. I’d dabbled in photography for a number of years prior to starting my company, and that’s really where the foundation was set and where I got hooked on visual storytelling as a medium. From there, I fell in love with film and video as a way to communicate stories.
It’s always felt worthwhile to tell stories of others, of those who have overcome challenges and/or made a positive impact in the world. This is the foundation of reverie and why we exist.
Joseph, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Reverie is a full-service video production agency that works with brands and non-profits who make the world a better place.
By creating genuine and powerful narratives that take the form of documentaries, commercials and branded content, we share our clients’ passion for what they do and why their work is important. We help brands powerfully engage viewers to tell stories that are bigger than any of us on our own.
Reverie works in places all over the world, and is proudly based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
We’re most proud of telling stories of human engagement and impact in the world. This is why a lot of our work tends to be documentarian in nature and focus.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of founding a creative company, especially one like reverie, is that I’m able to meet so many people in so many different walks of life. The team and I enjoy being able to visit places and meet people who we wouldn’t otherwise have had the opportunity to meet if we weren’t engaged in filmmaking. It’s just as rewarding for us to see when the work we produce has real-life impact, whether it’s in a non-profit fundraising for a new campaign or simply showing viewers something they hadn’t seen or heard about before.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The overall goal that drives me as a creative and reverie as a company is to create awareness and open viewers’ eyes to new perspectives. I don’t see our goal being one that can simply be “achieved”. There will always be new stories to tell and new perspectives to see from.
