We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Dixon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I would like to tell my story from the beginning. In 2016, I was diagnosed with depression due some things that had taken place in my life at the time. I would cry a lot, and often isolate myself because I was overwhelmed by emotions. One day, while heading home, I passed by a brand new Planet Fitness and decided that going to the gym would be a good idea for my mental and physical health overall. I decided to take a HIIT workout class which I really enjoyed and things took off from there. I began creating my own workout regimen, and setting some goals for myself such as increase endurance, improve core and stability, as well as weight gain. I started to feel so much better about myself. Ever since then, fitness has became a major part of my life, and I knew that I had a passion for fitness as well as helping others achieve their fitness goals. In 2018, I came up with the name “Driven 2 Conquer”. Driven2Conquer is more than just about fitness, it is a movement and a way of life. It’s about the power of overcoming any and all obstacles that life puts in your path.
In 2020, I became a Certified Personal Trainer, Cycling Instructor, and I launched my own fitness apparel line for men and women.
Ashley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Driven2Conquer Fitness incorporates values that influences our actions and programs: •Positivity

The goal of Driven2Conquer Fitness is to promote the importance of living a long term and healthy lifestyle, as well as empower a diversity of people through fitness. I want to create an atmosphere that is convenient for everyone. I take pride in continuously educating my clients on the importance of nutrition, health, and fitness. Most importantly; assisting with success in their fitness journey.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I would say that a lesson I had to learn was to stop sitting around “waiting” for things to happen. There’s a saying that goes “great things come to those who wait” and I believe in that saying to an extent. However, it took me a while to realize that if you want something out of life, you have to be willing to work for it, sacrifice, and not depend on anyone to give you anything. This was such a toxic, self-limiting mindset to have. I also learned the importance of aligning yourself to whatever goal(s) you have set for yourself and making sure that you’re doing something everyday that’s moving you closer to your goal(s).
How did you build your audience on social media?
During COVID-19, being that the gyms were closed, I started recording myself in my backyard and living room. I had some fitness equipment such a pair of pink 10 lb. Dumbbells, yoga mat, resistance bands, and ankle weights. I would even use equipment in my home such as bricks, and chairs. I would post a bunch or crazy, creative workouts, and I would get so many reposts and mentions on social media. Some people would even tag me on their page that they’re doing my workouts. I went from 800 followers and now I am 2,654 followers.
My advice to anyone whose looking to build their audience on social media is to make time to post content. It can be something positive and motivational, it can be something to make people laugh, it can even be a small clip of a workout. Create content that captures your audience and find ways to engage with them. I would also recommend studying the social media algorithms as well as ways to make money and grow on social media.
