We recently connected with Sara Tick and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I am a licensed couples therapist and I have always loved the intersection between relationships, dating, communication, and technology. I worked part-time with a matchmaking company during graduate school in Boston, and the day that I graduated with my masters degree I launched my dating coaching company for professional men. Boston was a huge inspiration in the start of my dating coaching career because it was a hub for entrepreneurs and start up companies. I met dozens of smart, wonderful single men who struggled to find the same success with their romantic lives as they did in their professional lives. I have since carried that idea into the launch of my current men’s dating coaching business, Modern Meet.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
As a couples therapist, I often hear the struggles of today’s modern couples. I have used that data to create dating coaching programs to help the professional men of today’s world and help them attract high value partners. My goal is to prevent my coaching clients from ever needing couples therapy because they will enter their next relationship with equality, compassion, and emotional maturity. I’m also a strong feminist, and in my manifesto I share with potential clients where I stand on current issues which impact my coaching.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Social media has been instrumental in building Modern Meet. Even though the company is relatively new, Instagram and TikTok help funnel men to my Facebook group, Dating Advice For Men. This Facebook group allows me to have direct contact with potential clients and grow a community of professional, like-minded men who are serious about finding a long-term relationship.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’m an extreme introvert, and it can be challenging to “put yourself out there” on social media, particularly in my demographic. Every day I receive criticism from men who do not believe that a woman has any right to coach men around dating and relationships. While it can be frustrating having to manage the negativity that is often found in the social media space, I continue to show up and create content because I know that my ideal clients are benefiting from my presence and my business benefits from the exposure.
