We were lucky to catch up with Jason Micallef recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jason, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Hypermotive was created in August 2012 while I was in a graduate school program at the National Defense University for the US Army. Originally Hypermotive was created specifically to take care of the Soldiers at Fort Bragg from being taken advantage of by other performance shops within the area. Too many times I’ve personally heard the stories of Soldiers being taken advantage of and the loss of money however, Hypermotive exploded to a nationally known company and continued to grow throughout the years. Hypermotive is a company with enthusiasts that love internal combustion engines and the Automotive Performance World, this industry allows customers, businesses to express themselves through their love of vehicles. Hypermotive strives to provides amazing customer service to our customers, friends and family. Our customers become our friends and ultimately becomes our Automotive family, we’re proud of the customers we have cause without them, Hypermotive would not exist.

We can install most performance parts at our location. From basic mods, supercharger installs, to motor swaps, we have the tools and experience to get your ride going. We also have a in-house chassis dyno so we can dial in your setup perfectly with one of our remote tuners.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI with a family that worked for Ford. It was easy to be an Automotive enthusiast and have a major passion for internal combustion engines. Something about getting behind the wheel of a performance and making it go fast, look good and sound amazing I’ll always consider special. I started Hypermotive at Fort Bragg, NC as an online parts distributor but it exploded immediately and we become not only an online parts company but a company that provides labor services. Few things that set us apart is there aren’t many companies that provide the same amount of product we do, not only do we provide a massive amount of performance products, but we’re direct with many manufacturers while also providing installation services, labor, engine building, and an in house DynoJet for remote tuning with some of the most premier tuning companies for the Ford Platforms.
The main thing I’m proud of is Hypermotive hasn’t relied on independent investors, silent partners, Hypermotive has been owned and ran by one individual and still have been able to thrive the last 10 years.
What we want customers to know is that if they want to use Hypermotive for parts and services is that they’ll receive amazing, transparent customer service. We treat all cars like they’re our own and proud to have many repeat customers coming back for more services. We strive to maintain relationships with all our customers and always look to build upon those relationships.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
COVID, many companies have closed down due to the epidemic. I had to use a lot of my own personal income from the Military in order to keep the company going for a few months. COVID did put major constraints on us but luckily we did move on and grow!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The primary pivot is coming up for Hypermotive, as the owner I’m finally retiring from the Military and I’ll be able to be at the Hypermotive Facility everyday and help the company grow and thrive even more! Next year there will be even more services we’ll provide to our customers, we cant wait!
