Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mauricsa Moniece. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mauricsa , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I always knew I wanted to be in the entertainment industry since a little girl but me or parents honestly never knew where to start. All I ever knew was basketball so I figured the WNBA would be my way out. Everyone told me that I could make it to the WNBA but deep down I knew I didn’t love basketball and I wasn’t passionate about it. I even had a few college coaches looking to recruit me but I didn’t want to waste their time because I knew I wasn’t going to give it my all.. My passion was somewhere else I just had to figure out where to start. When I was younger I used to damn near study Aaliyah and Beyoncé and mimic all of their moves in their music videos. So then I thought I could be a singer too just to learn that I didn’t have a voice like theirs hahaha! Once I saw Aaliyah acting in Romeo Must Die, it clicked! I told myself “That’s gonna be me one day!” She was just so cool, edgy, sweet and confident. From that point on, whenever I saw other girls that looked like me in the movies and on tv shows I would tell myself “ That’s Gonna Be Me One Day.”

Mauricsa , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Mauricsa Moniece, I am a 24 year old upcoming actress, entertainer, and mogul in the making. I am also a lash tech, I offer eyebrow wax as well, I’m a YouTuber, I ballroom dance, I’m a skater and I have my own t-shirt brand that I am working on which is self titled “Mauricsa Moniece.” What sets me aside from others is that fact that I wholeheartedly believe in myself, I’m a Jack of all trades, and I’m a go getter. My hunger and drive comes from knowing what it’s like to have absolutely everything as well as having absolutely little to nothing. What got me into the industry was me doing research. I spent hours on YouTube watching videos on tips to becoming a better actor, auditioning, terms that are used on set, you know.. Things of that nature. I would watch interviews of people like Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey, and Vivica A Fox just to name a few, to hear their stories and how they got their big break and use that as motivation for myself.
I am most proud of the fact that I have not given up on this dream of mine and I’m making it a reality for me. I am proving to myself that prayer and manifestation is real. It always amazes me how so many obstacles were put into my life to stop me but it didn’t thanks to having tunnel vision and knowing that God is always walking with me.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly, I just want to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to and there’s no such thing as a dream being too big. I want to show people that the sky is the limit you just have to believe and see it through. I’ve always pictured a certain lifestyle for myself which includes luxury and freedom.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
So during my acting career, I have NEVER played a comedic role, which is my dream because I feel like I am very funny. There was auditions for a comedy coming up and I just thought like “okay this is my time to shine!” I audition, I get the role and everything. Fast forward someone from the crew reached out to me to tell me when rehearsal was and I told them I’d be a lil late due to me getting off of work about an hour or so after the start time. Immediately I was told that they were going to have to replace me due to the fact that I couldn’t make it on time. I was soooo heartbroken and felt like quitting my job but then again who is gonna take care of me? So I was just like whatever, it happens. That SAME DAY, I got a call for a bigger role that was offered to me. I didn’t have to audition or anything. So the lesson I learned that if it’s for you, it’ll be. Don’t be so upset when someone passes on you because it was for a reason and the people who pass on you are going to regret it.
