Caitlin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I launched my freelance editorial business earlier in 2022 because, as an indie author, I’ve realized how difficult it can be to find an editor who can work within your limited budget. Publishing is expensive, and it takes time to earn your money back before you begin to make a profit. I really felt a strong call to start my editing business and to be that editor that people can find who offers affordable services and does professional quality work. It’s my goal to help other authors who are pursuing their dreams of writing and be that stepping stone that brings them one step closer to accomplishing that dream.
Caitlin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a book editor, and I’ve been passionate about writing books for years. Earlier this year, I felt this deep conviction to help others who are also pursuing a career in writing. I’ve always loved grammar and editing, and I wanted to use my talents to help others. As an editor, I offer editorial services for almost all genres and provide developmental edits, line edits, and proofreading edits. One thing I think sets me apart from other freelance editors is my price range. I really want to offer affordable services, while maintaining high-quality work, to indie authors because I know from personal experience how expensive publishing can be. I’m most proud of my work ethic and how my talent for editing has helped other authors reach their dreams of publishing.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
One of the best sources of new clients for my business has been through social media. I try to be pretty active on Instagram and build my following and engage with the bookstagram community there. Most of my clients have found me on Instagram and then followed the link to my website and contacted me about my editing services.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is knowing I’m helping others. It brings me so much joy, and it’s so fulfilling to know that, by doing what I love and I’m passionate about, I’m making a difference in someone else’s life.
