Quenisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

I always used to baked brownies when I was younger as a hobby. One day I baked some brownies for an event at work and one of my coworkers told me that they was so delicious that she would buy some from me but I knew they was more to just starting a business. I started making cakes and cupcakes with my sons but I did not know how to decorate them so I was talking with my former boss and she offered to send me to some decorating classes and that is where I learned how to pipe, work with fondant and make flowers. In 2017 I started college to get a degree in Business Administration as well as I was offered an opportunity to join a program through the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce called Side Street to Main Street Business Leadership Program and I completed it and that was where I launched my business logo and my business became an LLC. I also created my own website twice and launched it but it was not what I expected it to help grow the business and my target market so I disabled it and will be looking to relaunch it next year. I recently was chosen to be a part of a cake designer competition and I won 6th place out of 130 cakes which was unexpected. In the last 4 years of being a business woman and entrepreneur has been some amazing and challenging time to be in business. I have some new ideas that I am looking to launch next year for my 5th anniversary.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Hello readers and potential clients my name is Quenisha Williams and I am the CEO and Head Cake Designer for Nisha’s Creative Creations LLC. I got into the baking industry as a hobby as a teenager. I think of my business as a cupcakery instead of a bakery it sets me apart from other businesses. I make cupcakes, cakes, dipped specialty treats like (cake pops, cakesicles, strawberries, pineapples). I am a mother to 3 young men and they are my inspiration, motivation and supporters. Each order that I receive I let my customers know that I aim to make their creation what they imagined and I definitely be spot on or better than they imagined it would be. What makes me different from other business owners is I don’t try to overwhelm myself with order or expectations. I am honest from the start if I am not able to do something they would like on their creation I will not lie to you. I was very proud to have made my son his 4 tier Hollywood Theme cake for his 16th birthday. He told me he didn’t want anyone else to make it but me and I Did It. I want my potential clients, followers and fans to know that I am a women from Brooklyn New York that has a passion to create unique creations you will Love. Give me a try and you will taste why I am different from other businesses.

How did you build your audience on social media?

As I started my business my best way to showcase what creations I was making was through social media. Each time I made a new creation or an idea I came out with I posted it. I noticed when I started I barely was getting any like but I noticed a lot of people where viewing my pages so I kept on posting and still today I get requests from people that knows someone that was a customer of mine and they were referred to me as a customer. I invite them to look through my work and I welcome them to share with me their ideas they want me to create for their special occasions or just for a quick treat

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

My most effective strategy is word of mouth and repeat customers posting and tagging me in their pictures showing people where they not that got it from.
