We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kaitlin Nares a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kaitlin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump into the story of starting your own firm – what should we know?
If you want to get something done, give it to two busy moms. The partners of Hagen | Nares PLLC are the next generation of law firm–young, modern, and female. We created this firm to give our clients the representation they deserve.
We are unlike any other law firm. We are experts in our field that specialize in one core mission: we help families affected by serious injuries get relief. We know intimately well that a serious injury to one family member touches and affects the whole family. Families burdened by serious injuries face mounting financial debt, fear of an uncertain future, and deception by large companies and insurance carriers. These families deserve a compassionate, patient, and caring advocate. We are trial tested and have the experience you and your family need. We love what we do and are dedicated to holding others accountable to make our communities a safer place for all.
We created a thriving law firm with little more than our hopes, confidence, and intuition. We relied on our reputation to build a large referral base. We strongly urge more young professionals to start their own firms. They do not need to spend any money on advertising. They do not need an office. They can co-counsel with other firms for support. Life is about chances. It is time to take them.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a boy mom. I have a 16 month and two-month-old. I started my firm when my oldest son was 5 months old and I got pregnant with my second, shortly after launching. Life brings challenges–the best you can do is hold on and take the ride. I created my firm to support my life. Most attorneys do the opposite–they try to fit their home life into their firm. My firm embraces technology to make communication and file sharing as easy as possible. We work hours that support busy parents–which tends to be our client base. We do not shy away from sharing about our lives with our clients–they want to know we can empathize with them.
What is our brand? We are two busy moms that represent other parents, whose families have been devastated by trucking and brain injuries. We take on big cases because they matter. We do not play around. We are ready to fight for our client from start to finish. When we say we are trial ready, we mean it.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We have not spent on advertising. Our social media traffic has been organic. The key to our free marketing success? We give away as much information as possible. We share the same information we tell our clients to the public every day. We also share personal stories about our firm and family.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I highly recommend the Go-Giver series of books. We build our firm on similar principles that by giving more value than you expect in return will be the key to our success.
