We were lucky to catch up with Paola Ochoa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Paola thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

Hi my name is Paola Ochoa and I am a teen entrepreneur and content creator. I started my journey at 16 starting a social media agency in high school. When people ask me if i wish i could start earlier, I wish i did. When i was 9 years old I had started my first youtube channel and showed how much I loved youtube and what it was for me. I was so creative at a young age creating videos and being in front of the camera until I was bullied for doing it. When I was bullied in elementary and middle school for doing social media, it had put a hold to my life where i was scared to be the face of anything. I had deleted all my vidoes , channel , and social media because I clearly was not ” made for it ” After over 6 years of hiding, I started my entire journey again at 16 starting my social media agency. i was scared to start because I did not want anyone to say anything to me or treat me different because I wanted to start something. With starting my agency, I actually started behind the camera and was just not representing my brand as my self. With that, I do wish i could of started my agency with the enough confidence to be the face of it. Within time I built the confidence to go back to being in front of the camera, but if 6 years prior I did not let those opinions bother me, perhaps I could of been somewhere else in my journey

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Yes ! So my name is Paola Ochoa a 19 year old creative from San Diego , CA. From a young age, I have loved social media and wanting to make a change in my community which lead me to start my creative journey. My journey started with my social media agency formaly known as Socials by Paola. Here i would help businesses and creatives start their journey with the social media world. If they needed help with instagram , marketing , photography , or even research. After doing my social media agency for a while, it got to a point where i did not know anyone out there like me which is when i decided to start my non profit Teen Boss babes. Teen Boss Babes is a non profit organzation for teens who want to follow their dreams. We are able to provide tips , advice , support , and connect you with other teens. With Teen Boss Babes we were also able to launch our very own podcast , magazine , and tiktok platfrom where we were able to spread more information and reach more teens. After being the face of my non profit , I had decided to step back into the foot of social media and re launched my personal social medias!

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I would say 100% i wish there was a community like my non profit Teen Boss Babes. I wish there was a place I go meet other teens and not feel so alone in the process. This would be even if I needed advice on how to grow but also on how to meet others that had similar interests as me.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

The best way to describe how I built my audience on social media was by just being myself. I struggled so much with being scarced what people would say, i realized that if I am just myself it should not bother me. With that, I was able to be myself when doing content on Instagram and Tiktok but also when connecting with others. Not only has being myself helped me in my journey but I also feel like it is able to make my page personal to who I am and my communtiy know exactly who I am.

As for advice, I would say the number one thing is to just start! I was scared for so long to just switch my mindset from one day to the other to start building my social media. I say if you are passionate about it and are ready to change your life to start following your dreams , just do it and push yourself.
