We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Zach Richie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Zach below.
Zach , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
I feel like i’m misunderstood every day. It’s a culmination of judgmental sentiments of others and my own social inadequacies. I went through a period of time where hiding from the world was blissful. It has helped me create great music (coming soon) , but it has also made me realize that even if you have some grandiose message for the masses, it will only resonate if you look them in the eye and say it. To put simply, I’m on the field with it now.

Zach , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a creative. I’m an aspiring visionary. An aspiring symbol for people like me. I’m a musician. My aim is to play heaven’s advocate. We live in a world currently fueled by things that will surely be the next generations downfall. I’m not some guy trying to preach and tell you what you should do with your life. That’s all you. I do want to remind you (and myself) that whatever you’re doing is not the end. The shortcomings are not the end unless you allow it. Everything is free will. I just want to remind people of that by putting fragments of my soul over beats. Actually showing the gradual shift in my mindset from pitch black, to grey, and then finally light. I just wanna do what makes me feel good. Helping people aim to become mentally wealthy makes me feel good i guess.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Honestly, stop trying to generalize and box people in. It completely disregards what it means to be a creative. These days it can be hard to thrive without conformity. If you want to win, you have to make your art digestible for all. I’m good on that. If you get me, you got me. We good over here.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing that has ever happen to me artistically speaking? Well the first time a fan of mine, which is surreal to say in the first place, told me how my music helped them combat their depression. That has stuck with me. That’s my dream to be honest with you. Long as i’m able to do that I know i’ll be good.
