Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DJ Ace D. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
DJ Ace D, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
I would definitely have to say DJ Jazzy Jeff. Every time I’ve seen him play in person he has captivated the crowd. I catch every live stream that he does and it never ceases to amaze me how seamlessly he can move through all kinds of genres. He really has inspired me to not be afraid to push musical boundaries. He is also the reason that I will be delving back into production in the new year.

DJ Ace D, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
If I had to describe myself in one simple sentence I would say that I am an extremely intelligent person who just happens to have a strong creative skillset. Music has always been a big part of my life starting with the portable keyboards that my mother would buy for me as a kid. I remember being fascinated by the ability to trigger a pattern with the push of a button. It was probably that moment that created the thought in my mind that maybe I could be a producer one day.
Throughout my childhood music was all around me from the music videos that I watched constantly everyday to my mother playing the radio to learning about how to use various audio equipment and software at school. It was the suggestion of a friend after having a conversation about music that I should try djing. I took heed to his advice and have been on this journey ever since.
Some of my career highlights include:
I’ve had the pleasure of djing for brands such as Mac Cosmetics and Sam’s Club.
I’ve played at some notable lounges in Chicago.
I’ve been featured in a festival lineup.
Currently, I am a mixshow DJ for three internet radio stations: Z100thebeat, Five3Radio, and Street Madness Radio.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I definitely would say its to unite people from all walks of life. Music is the one universal language that translates all over the world and that is because people relate to the feeling that it gives. The pandemic demonstrated that music literally has the power to change lives.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me its all about self expression. I feel like I have a lot of different interests especially in regards to music. Over the next several months I will be releasing a few projects to showcase this. My mixtape Kaleidoscope will be out by December 2022. As a DJ I really like to show my versatility and I am aiming to really push this point in 2023.
