We recently connected with AunnaMaria Cooke and have shared our conversation below.

AunnaMaria, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

Blaque Magik Healing was born Messages Of The Ancestors. But I changed the name due to me wanting to expand from a solely service based business to a service provider business with products to sell. I also wanted the name to cover all of the services that I offer while being fitting of me and who I am. Black being my favorite color. Healing being what I do and Magic being what I am. I had a convo with my spirit team & my Egun. And they approved of the name. I just tweaked spelling to feel more authentic to me. And Abracadabra it is so.

AunnaMaria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I got into being a spiritual consultant in a rather natural manner I guess. I have always been naturally intuitive. I’d call or text friends or family like “Hey!! What’s wrong!?” And get the “Omg!! How’d you know!?” Or just text to check on them and they got the chance to vent out issues, we’d discuss solutions and things for them to feel better. So it’s always been something I’ve done. In ways I’d just know things and not really know how I knew. I could also always sense energies and see things from other realms since i was a child. Being spiritually intune has always been a part of me and who I am. I had a crazy situation occur back in 2017 that kinda messed me up financially. It was a hard hit and made me realize alot. I knew I needed to go into business for myself and toyed with a few ideas before really listened to what my ancestors were telling me. I sat down and connected with them in meditation and I asked them to show me what I needed to be doing. People again needed my help moving through things spiritually and emotionally and naturally I was helping. I realized that was what I needed to do. It fell in line with everything I’d been saying I wanted to do and everything id been doing from the time I was 16. Eventually I knew I wanted to offer more and the ideas that I toyed around with became options for products. So I offer loc jewelry for sell as well as nose cuffs and have other items that I’ll be offering soon. I offer spiritual based services as well. Sessions are readings where I assist clients in solving issues they face in life using various divination methods an natural gifts I possess. Distance Reiki is a service I offer for clients who’s energetic fields are blocked and need help clearing them to get the flowing again. Consultations are a service for clientele who follow some occult practices and need assistance in knowing how to perform certain rituals, cleansings, etc or who don’t know what they can do along those lines for a problem they may be facing.

I’m most proud of my resilience in running my business, expanding and growing into what it is so far and having a vision for what I can and will become. I am helping people heal and become better versions of themselves. And I couldn’t be more proud of my ability to do so. I also will be able to pass this on to my children, possible grandchildren, etc.

I want any potential clients to know, what you get from me isn’t the Hollywood version that we see in movies and on TV. This is a personal service that truly gets to the root and helps you in ways you often don’t realize you need help. And, I’m honored to be able to do this work.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

My entire business ownership career!! Lol!! Being a business owner is difficult in any field. You face many challenges regardless of the field. Specifically for me, the odds get stacked when you say certain trigger words that give people a uneasy feeling about what it is I do. Especially since it’s still so taboo for many. So just running my business in general requires resilience and for me to keep pushin. However, in particular it got difficult with COVID. It’s been a challenge for me to maintain clients when clients themselves are struggling with their own income. It gets hard to keep goin when the kids have needs, the bills are due and your accounts are low or in the red. But then you help a client lift a weight off them. Your story helps them see a clear path out of whatever chaos they are facing. And you realize, this work you do isn’t in vain. It isn’t for naught. And that is the push to keep going.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Lessons!!! Lol!!! When I started my spiritual journey as I was growing and learning I fell into this idea that I had be a certain way. I began to avoid certain actions and music. Then I received a message that I was imbalanced. I was denying myself the natural flow of my energies in order to remain in line with the idea of who I should be. In order to balance my energies and allow them to flow the way they needed to I had to unlearn the idea of who I was supposed to be and embrace the natural order of who I am. Duality is and always will be key.
