Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trell Martin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Trell thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
Starting in 2012 I set out to offer graphic designing as job and retire the title hobby. Working doing graphic designing and going to college full time with a job was challenging, but by being in school I manage to meet and network with a lot of influential people. Fast forward to 2017 I started expanding my services with offering photography. Once I learned the craft enough to charge for it I started charging by doing simply things such as events for family and free stuff around the community. After business was going great I started to notice that I had found a passion for something that excited me even when I just think about it. January 2020 I decided to walk away from my full time job and further my business and running it full time. Throughout the times of being a full time business owners I learn that you have to not only provide great services but you also have to be able to endure just about almost everything and giving up is definitely not an option.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding my business was very tough. I was in the process of taking care of my family and trying to manage money. After just suddenly quitting my job to run Full Effect full time I had to create different marketing to attract clients. Building clientele was a small challenging because there are some talented photographers in the same area but I had to put my head down and hit the ground in full force but most of all I had to be consistent.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is when I can help someone create a lifelong memory. When you see the smile on someone face and hear them say “o my God this is so beautiful,” that is one of the best feelings in the world. With being a photographer I know that bringing out those smile in someone for that moment they they are wanting to savor is very important. I love to treat each and every client with respect so not only did they receive great work but they also can feel like family.
