We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Pine recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Samantha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I have been able to earn a living working full-time selling my art for over 2 years but have been selling my art for over 10 years. I’ve always made art a priority. For about 8 years, on and off, I would work only part-time in the food industry. I would commit the rest of my week to creating different things like dream catchers, recycled leather bags, etc. until I took a silversmithing class and fell in love. I continued to create and got all the tools I needed to have a home studio. I continued building my online presence and reaching out to set up at community events all while still working part-time. I finally decided it was time to put all of my energy into selling my art and I quit my other job. There wasn’t a sure sign of when to fully commit other than me being confident in myself and my art. I was ready to try, learn and go with the flow to see what happens. It was so worth it! Investing in myself felt so good. There is definitely ups and downs. You don’t always sell stuff but you do learn about yourself. You don’t always handle situations well but you learn how to for next time. Nothing in life is perfect so you might as well do what you love! My advice is to believe in yourself and you can do anything!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Samantha Pine. I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. Always creating in one way or another and I’ve always wanted to sell my work. I’m a traveler, a free spirit, a crystal enthusiast and a nature lover. A friend of mine was taking a silversmithing class, asked me to join so I did and I was hooked! I decided this was it~ quality jewelry making was where I wanted to focus my energy. I slowly bought everything to work from home. Now I am a full-time silversmith. I create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry made with pure love, positive intentions and sterling silver. All gemstones are natural and hand selected by me from different gem shows. Each piece holds an energy~ I hope each one brings you the healing energy you were needing. I’m also available to create custom jewelry. It’s so special to pick out of my stones or use your stones to create exactly what you desire. My goal is to spread love and positivity through my creations~ I hope you can feel it!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is connecting with people about art and seeing the genuine joy in the faces of people who love art. Whether it’s my art, theirs or anothers. When we talk about creating and artwork, it only fuels that energy more and keeps it flowing. Art is so beneficial for this world and our hearts!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Something I wish I knew when I started is that you are the creator of your life. You are in control. You can do anything, be anything and create any reality you want. So build the life you want to live!
